UPCOMING EVENTS
Alpha Upsilon Alpha Literacy Honors Society: The Reading Club invites all who are interested in promoting the act of reading to our monthly meeting. Our guest speaker this month is Dr. Gomez!
The Department of Criminal Justice and Social Work would like to promote the individual safety of our campus community. In that vein, we have partnered with the Kentucky Academy of Martial Arts to sponsor some events this semester focused on teaching people techniques for personal self-defense and being aware of your environment. While the session will focus on women's self-defense, the techniques can be used by anybody who is facing a threat.
Our first event will be specifically for faculty and staff and be held on Wednesday, March 5, from 2:30-3:30pm in the Carr Hall Dance Studio. The event will be capped at 30 because the presenters will work one-on-one with participants; if more than 30 sign up, a wait list will be created.
If you have any questions, please contact Katy Hancock at khancock11@murraystate.edu

Join the Literacy Fellows Program This Summer!
The Literacy Fellows program invites undergraduate sophomores and juniors from all majors to spend a month in Memphis, where you'll receive training and teach literacy at the engaging MTR Camp for elementary school students. Fellows will receive a living stipend, food stipend, and housing.
This is a fantastic opportunity for preservice teachers and non-certification majors alike to gain valuable experience working in a diverse, urban setting while making a difference in the lives of children. Monique Ferguson, an IECE major and former student representative on the Diversity Action Committee (DAC), is a great example of how this program can shape your personal and professional growth.
Get involved and make an impact this summer!

Shout Out to the ACS Department Faculty and Rebecca Simons! 🎉 from Dr. Donna Crouch
I want to extend a "huge shout-out" to all the faculty in the ACS Department Faculty Members for their incredible support and contributions to our recently (positively pending) awarded Perkins V grant for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Other New Technology Strategies Training for CTE Expansion! While the actual work on this project has yet to begin, it is already inspiring to see our ACS family members—from all our different programs—stepping up to the challenge.
A special THANK YOU to Rebecca Simons for her technology expertise, which sparked the idea to write this grant to benefit our CTE community partners, including schools as well as state and national organizations. Your innovation and collaboration are deeply appreciated and will make a lasting impact on our students and industry partners.
I am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such a dedicated and forward-thinking team. Looking forward to seeing this project come to life!
Thank you all! 👏👏👏
