I am delighted to provide this welcome and introduction to this week’s Mid-week Roundup. Thank
you, Claire Layne, for your efforts in producing this newsletter. This is a busy week for us, leading to an
even busier next week. To each that has contributed to the events listed below, thank you! It really does take
a village.
Homecoming Breakfast- Saturday, October 14, Murray Middle School Cafeteria, 8 a.m. This annual event
brings together alumni, special guests, university leadership, faculty, staff, and friends. The College
hosts the breakfast (no cost), followed by brief remarks by Dr. Jackson, Dr. Todd, and
others. Murray Middle School is a special place to hold our event since it was in this building in 1923
when Murray State University (formerly Murray Normal School) welcomed its first group of 87 students.
We are celebrating the centennial anniversary of this College and Murray State University. At 9:30 a.m.,
the Homecoming parade begins on Main Street. Many of our Homecoming guests leave the breakfast
and walk outside to celebrate the parade. If you have not yet RSVP’d, please get in touch with Amy Seavers.
Following the Homecoming parade, Tent City, on the east side of Roy Stewart Stadium, opens up. The
Department of Criminal Justice and Social Work student organizations will host a tent. Stop in, if you
can. The football game follows Tent City. Murray State takes on Southern Illinois University.
CAEP and EPSB Accreditation- This is an entirely virtual visit that begins Sunday, October 15 and ends
Tuesday, October 17. Many thanks for the Herculean efforts of so many who have prepared for this
visit. A special thanks to Dr. Jessica Evans for her leadership in this crucial endeavor.

170- Number of EPP participants

Please note that there will be a celebratory lunch buffet in the faculty/staff kitchen on Wednesday,
October 18. There is no program. This is merely a time to say, “Thank you,” to so many colleagues and
friends who participated in the accreditation. Come and go at your convenience. The buffet will be
open from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thank you, Amy, for your efforts in arranging this special luncheon.
Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology-
The Speech-Language Pathology program is currently undergoing its accreditation review. The initial report has
been submitted to the CAC, with the expectation that there will be a CAC team visit during the spring
semester. A special thank you to all of the CDI faculty and staff but especially to Dr. Stephanie Schaaf for
their work on this vital accreditation.
COEHS Student Advisory Committee will meet on Thursday, October 12, beginning at Noon in the
Multipurpose Room. Nominations of students were obtained earlier in the semester from faculty and
staff in each of the academic units. This luncheon discussion is guided by a series of questions that our students are asked
to comment on. If you have specific questions for our students, please send them to me or to Amy or Claire, and we will
ensure they get addressed. If you are interested in attending, please let me know. This will help us to adjust the food count.
Minutes of the meeting will be kept and reported out on the COEHS Intranet site,
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1m403xEGhv2mbkqEHdxlhbLdl0LCHpjpH.
Kindness, gentleness, civility. Thank you for all that you do every day to teach our students, expand our reputation, and ensure that this college succeeds.
