STUDENT ORGANIZATION UPDATES
The Criminal Justice Society sponsored a self-defense workshop on November 4 that was led by representatives from the Kentucky State Police and the Murray Police Department.
A dozen or so students attended and learned how to protect themselves!
KEA-AE serves at Soup for the Soul.
FACULTY UPDATES
Drs. Samir Patel, Stephanie Pryor, and Justin Brogan attended the Mid-South Educational Research Association (MSERA) Conference last week in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Drs. Patel and Pryor presented their session, “Preparing Teachers to Teach AI: A Call to Action for Teacher Educators.”
Dr. Justin Brogan and Mandy Brogan presented “Using Research to Create an Innovative Check-and-Connect Teaching Strategy.”
STAFF UPDATE
On Monday, October 27 Donna Wear (TQI) visited Mr. Matt Adams education class at Gateway Academy in Christian County.
They discussed the field of education, the different directions students could pursue, and the observations they have already completed.
All students are seniors and plan to "chase their passion" in education for children.

Monday, November 10
Murray State’s Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) hosted its annual Educators Rising event, welcoming hundreds of high school students from across the region to campus for a day of education-focused competitions and activities.
Several COEHS students contributed to this year’s event. Professional Development School (PDS) students Halle Spillman, Kylin Reynolds, and Morgan Westerfield led a session sharing college insights from a student’s perspective. Haley Williams, a Family and Consumer Sciences major, presented on the power of puppetry in education. Meanwhile, Health and Physical Education (HPE) students hosted an engaging session in Carr Hall that promoted teamwork through cooperative and competitive activities.
