YEMM & HART RESILIENT FLOORING
TIRE VENEER
Yemm & Hart's Tire Veneer is manufactured from buffings, which are small granules of rubber that are removed from the old tire tread that is going to be retreaded. Rubber tires are made from SBR (Styrene butadiene rubber). Polyurethane is used to bind the rubber granules together into a strong but slightly porous material.
The least expensive color of Tire Veneer is black. To add some visual interest to black Tire Veneer, colored EPDM rubber is added to the black tire buffings before they are all bound together with polyurethane.
The EPDM (Ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber is not recycled, thus only the solid black Tire Veneer contains 100% post-consumer recycled rubber. For colors, the standard is 20% EPDM so that the material still contains a significantly high percentage of post-consumer content. The standard Tire Veneer comes in 4-foot widths with 3-foot widths and square cut and interlocking tiles as custom options.
