YEMM & HART PLASTIC SHEETS
Since 1989, Yemm & Hart has been providing high-quality Eco Materials for the commercial built environment. Their Origins Colorful HDPE Plastic Sheets are High-Density Polyethylene panels containing up to 100% post-consumer recycled resin.
Their line of compression molded panels are offered in single or multicolored designs. Patterns are created through a two-step process, first by preparing the resin by color and shape. Step two is forming the prepared resin into a flat panel using a compression molding process which presses together the molten flakes or pellets of the prepared colored resin from step one. The compression molding process is capable of producing as few as one panel or as many as twelve panels at a time.
Though much slower than the extrusion process for making a plastic sheet, compression molding is the only process that allows multiple colors within one sheet. This makes compression molding ideal for smaller projects and for producing material with fantastic visual stimulation.
Polyethylene is machinable using standard wood and metal working equipment, as well as be sanded for decorative effect, to remove or hide scratches and in surface preparation. Polyethylene can be laminated to itself and other substrates. Polyethylene can be welded using a plastic welder and a polyethylene-welding rod.
