Elisa Strozyk created "Wooden Textiles" to convey a new tactile experience, saying, "We are used to experience wood as a hard material... But we usually don't experience a wooden surface which can be manipulated by touch."
The processes to transform wood into a flexible wooden surface is its deconstruction into pieces, which are then hand-attached to a textile base. Depending on the geometry and size of the tiles each design shows a different behavior regarding flexibility and mobility.
Wood pieces can be dyed or affixed to transparent fabric . Uses include flooring, curtains, drapes, upholstery, furniture and fashion.
Washable or fire-retardant versions of the wooden textile can be produced through the application of different finishes.
