"A man who asks questions does not lose his way"
- Chinua Achebe
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Let's breathe. Let's exhale and slow down to notice the little things that make life beautiful. Like the questions that our children ask us. Their intent is to know the world and themselves better, never to challenge or disrespect us. Let us patiently listen, and always give them an honest answer. Not an evasive one or a dismissive one , and never a condescending or patronising one. Because they need to feel heard, and they need to feel valued. And paying REAL attention is how we can honor them with both.
One of the best questions a student recently asked me was 'What actually lies outside the two bubbles that we call home and school?'.
She knows both are protective safe zones, and that she will soon be venturing out into the wider and more challenging world.
What we need to do is give them a sense of and a glimpse of the kind of competition, self management and diversity of situations they may encounter. Which is why all the activities that you see LOTS participating in and helping our students access - are being given so much attention and promotion. Because these are opportunities to help your children develop the ability to do different things, compete with different people, interact with a wider world - and grow in worldly terms and not just academic terms.
Let us now immediately dive into these opportunities in the rest of this newsletter.
Warm regards
Shouquot Hussain
Head of School

Dear LOTS families,
On behalf of the Board of Governors of Lusaka Oaktree School, I am pleased to share an important update regarding the school fees for the upcoming academic year.
After careful consideration and with a deep commitment to supporting our school community, the Board has resolved that the school fee structure for all existing students will remain unchanged for the Academic Year 2025–26 (August 2025 – July 2026).
This decision reflects our ongoing commitment to:
Providing high-quality education with a focus on academic excellence, well-being, and leadership development,
Recognizing the loyalty and continued trust of our parent community,
Supporting families in the face of broader economic challenges.
While operational costs continue to rise, the School Board and Management remain committed to prudent financial management, ensuring that we continue to offer excellent programs, enhanced facilities, and the highest standards of student care without placing additional financial burden on our families.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all parents who continue to partner with us through timely fee payments, active engagement, and unwavering support of the school’s mission and vision.
If you have any questions regarding the 2025–26 academic year fee schedule or your specific payment plans, please feel free to reach out to the School Finance Department at finance@lusakaoaktree.school or via phone at +260979604243.
Thank you for being a vital part of the Lusaka Oaktree School community. We look forward to another year of growth, achievement, and excellence together.
Warm regards,
For and on behalf of the Board of Governors
Cars without stickers will not be allowed in or allowed to be parked, both through the main gate or through gate B. The safety of the children is more important than the discomfort this stricture may cause. So please ensure you paste LOTS car stickers in your cars.
Some students are still being dropped very late - as late as 7.40 and beyond. This is unacceptable, and will necessitate individual parent meetings with the Principal Pastoral Care. Simply because it is the child who loses out most, otherwise.
Those students identified as needing after class academic support need to attend these extra support lessons - we need your support here.
