Dear Parents,
This week has been filled with exciting news: our success at the World Scholar's Cup regionals, our readiness for academic excellence as measured by the upcoming CP and LS Check Point and IGCSE and A Level Board Exams, and our preparations for LOTS Founders' and Culture Day. You can find more details about each of these events elsewhere in this newsletter.
As parents, you play a vital role in our students' success. Your support for the World Scholar's Cup was invaluable, and we count on your continued support for LOTS Day (food, dress, performance) and our academic support programme. Please ensure that your child attends and is invested in their learning, and encourage them to follow through on their commitments during the holidays.
As we approach the Term 2 break, let us work together to empower our Acorns to reach their full potential. Let them strive for excellence and reach for the stars.
Warm regards,
Shouquot Hussain
Head of School
Feedback will remain a crucial part of the continuous process of growth at LOTS. We get constructive suggestions from parents and students to improve ourselves. In the same manner, the school is committed to giving timely feedback to students and parents. Formative assessments done in the past weeks and mock exams will inform us about our students growth in the areas of developing improved learning skills, self-management skills, and increased knowledge in various subjects. Feedback will be shared with the students and parents will be kept in the loop. Please contact the subject teachers, the class teachers for any clarifications or doubts.
Cell Phones
We would like to kindly remind you that students are encouraged not to bring mobile phones to school. Phones can be a distraction from learning and can interfere with students' focus during class time. Additionally, we want to foster an environment where students can fully engage in their academic activities without the temptation of technology. Currently we have 20 phones under our custody, confiscated from our students and will be given back in June as we end the school year. The school student code of conduct is very clear on this.
We understand that some students may need phones for school activities such as research for World Schoolers, Yango or other emergencies. If that is the case, please ensure that phones are handed in at the front desk at the start of the day. Should there be any special circumstances where a student must have their phone, please contact the school to discuss the matter further.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a positive and focused learning environment for all our students.
We are excited to invite you to join us in celebrating our school's Founder's Day on Friday 21st March, 2025 at Lusaka Oaktree grounds. This special occasion marks a significant milestone in our history and honors the vision, dedication, and values that have shaped our school into what it is today.
On this day we will have a variety of events and activities that highlight the achievements of our founders and showcase the growth of our school community. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the journey we’ve shared and look forward to the bright future ahead. On the same day we shall celebrate different cultures making up Lusaka Oaktree school and we encourage all our parents to bring a dish which will be shared by all the attendees. Parents are also welcome to register a performance of their choice to spice up the day.
We encourage you to be a part of this celebration and support our students as they participate in this memorable event. Your presence and involvement mean a lot to us as we continue to nurture a spirit of unity, pride, and excellence in our school.
Stress Management Talk by Reniasense
Our students recently had the opportunity to attend an insightful talk on stress management, delivered by Reniasense, a wellness and counselling centre dedicated to mental health. The session provided valuable strategies to help students navigate academic pressures and daily life stresses among teenagers.
Through interactive discussions and practical techniques, students learned how to recognize stress triggers and develop mindfulness and relaxation practices. The engaging session encouraged open conversations about mental wellbeing. We are grateful to Reniasense for their guidance and commitment to student well-being.
Primary Student Council and Group 2 Visit to Lusaka Animal Welfare Shelter
Our Primary Student Council continues to play an active role in fostering leadership and empathy through community engagement among our students. Recently, a second group of students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Lusaka Animal Welfare Shelter as part of our ongoing efforts to promote kindness and responsibility toward animals.
During the visit, students learned about animal care, rescue efforts, and the importance of treating animals with compassion. They had hands-on experiences interacting with rescued animals and gained valuable insights into the centre’s work in protecting and rehabilitating stray and abandoned pets.We are proud of their enthusiasm and dedication to making a positive impact in our community!
Secondary Student Council and LS3 GP Class Plan Community Outreach Activity
Our Secondary Student Council, in collaboration with the LS3 Global Perspectives (GP) class, is preparing for yet another meaningful visit to a child care facility. This initiative reflects our students’ commitment to service and community engagement, fostering connections that go beyond the classroom.
The visit is designed to be a two-way learning experience, where both our students and the children at the facility can share experiences, exchange knowledge, and build friendships. Through interactive activities, storytelling, and teamwork, the goal is to create an enriching environment where empathy, understanding, and mutual learning take center stage.
We look forward to this learning experience!
Creating Unforgettable Memories at EYD!
Story Time and Birthday Parties are among the most cherished moments at EYD! Our little ones love gathering around for engaging storytelling sessions, and celebrating special birthdays with friends and family.
These special moments foster a sense of community, spark imagination, and create lifelong memories for our young learners.
CP 3 Students shine in Global Perspectives Project and Science lessons
The CP 3 class has been buzzing with creativity and curiosity! Recently, they completed an exciting project in Global Perspectives, where they worked on forming a band and created their own musical instruments and posters.
The students showcased their innovative skills by designing and crafting guitars, xylophones, drums, and even pianos. Their posters were equally impressive, with thoughtful captions that highlighted the importance of music in different cultures.
In addition to their musical endeavors, the CP 3 students also had a thrilling Science lesson on separation techniques. They explored the processes of filtration and evaporation, making good use of the school's science lab facilities.
The students were fully engaged throughout the lesson, demonstrating their natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Their participation and teamwork were commendable, and their teachers were impressed by their eagerness to learn.
We are proud of our CP 3 students for their outstanding work in both Global Perspectives and Science. Their creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills are truly shining through!
Morning Mentorship Sessions: Building Confidence and Social Skills
We believe that starting the day on a positive note is essential for our students' academic and personal growth. The morning mentorship sessions take place before the first lesson of the day and provide a safe and supportive space for our students to share their feelings, thoughts, and concerns. Through interactive games and activities, our students are encouraged to build meaningful relationships with their peers and teachers.
The sessions have been a huge success, with our students showing significant improvement in confidence building and social interactions. By participating in these sessions, our students are developing essential life skills, such as communication, empathy, and teamwork.
We encourage all our students to arrive at school on time to participate in these engaging and enriching sessions. By doing so, they will not only start their day on a positive note but also set themselves up for success in all areas of life.
1. CP6& LS3 MOCK CHECKPOINT EXAMS
The CP6 and LS3 Checkpoint examinations commence on Monday 17/03/25 -20/03/25
2. SEMESTER BREAK CLASSES FOR CP6& LS3
This is to let you know that all students taking the CHECKPOINT EXAMS this April will not be breaking off during the Half Semester break, this is to ensure that enough contact time (Revision) and confidence is gained by the students before they begin writing their EXAMS. During this period, classes will run from 08:00-12hrs. We thank you all for the continued support and encouragement you give to our Children.
3. SPELLING BEE COMPETITION
In an exciting twist, CP 5 and CP 6 classes recently engaged in a thrilling spelling bee competition that had everyone on the edge of their seats. The event was designed not just for fun, but also to foster essential skills like spelling accuracy, focus, and a sense of healthy competition.
The selection process for this intense spelling showdown was rigorous: only the top three students from each class—based on their class performance—were chosen to represent their peers. These students demonstrated their impressive skills, determination, and ability to think quickly under pressure.
The benefits of a spelling bee extend beyond just learning how to spell tricky words. It helps students improve their vocabulary, boosts their confidence in public speaking, and sharpens their concentration. Most importantly, it creates a sense of camaraderie and encourages students to strive for personal excellence, all while having fun in the process.
As the competition progressed, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and support, showcasing the importance of teamwork and the power of learning through play. It was a fantastic opportunity for these young learners to shine and celebrate their academic growth together!
4. Tasks and Homework Supervision and Submissions
It is mandatory for all students to submit their work, we encourage parents to help in pushing our students to complete all set tasks and homework without fail as this will help teachers give feedback to the students.
It is with immense pride that we share the outstanding achievements of our students at the recent World Scholar's Cup competition. Our scholars' academic prowess and dedication have earned them a place on the international academic map.

Through well-researched arguments and respectful debate, they showcased exceptional negotiation skills, listening intently to opposing viewpoints while maintaining their positions with poise. What stood out most was their ability to engage in constructive dialogue, emphasizing cooperation over conflict. Despite differing perspectives, the young diplomats displayed a keen sense of responsibility, striving to find common ground and advocate for global progress. Their impressive ability to communicate complex issues with maturity and tact was a testament to their potential as future world leaders. As these students took center stage, it became clear that the future is in capable hands. Their passion for diplomacy, problem-solving, and global awareness signals a generation ready to shape a more peaceful and prosperous world.
