“To be or not to be, that is the question”
- William Shakespeare
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On the week of his birthday (celebrated as World Book Day), it is in order to invoke the Bard of Avon. And the reason I chose the world’s most discussed literary quote is to contextualize that Shakespearean line from Hamlet to our school’s motto and our school’s values. To be or not to be a leader? To be or not to be excellent? To be or not to be an empath? Because though possibilities abound, life is all about choices. And their consequences.
We are constantly striving to provide avenues to develop our students to be all of these, but the onus finally lies on the students also being intentional about choosing these challenges. And this is where you as a parent come in.
The National Debate League Competition sign ups are ongoing right now. The World Scholar’s Cup final list of Global Round participants is being drawn up. The Duke of Edinburgh Award program, about to take off with its first cohort, awaits more participants. The District Spelling Bee competition will be on the cards soon. The school teams for different games are in after school practice mode. But all of this will gain more traction only with your encouragement and support at home. If they see you believe, they too will believe more readily.
Finally, on the academic front, it is all systems go. Rigorous remedial and support lessons, curriculum coverage during class time, assessments and preparation for the upcoming exams - all of it is operational full throttle. You would have noticed the more frequent and more detailed academic updates going to parents consistently now. This is to help you keep abreast of what is being done and when.
Warm regards
Shouquot Hussain
Head of School
Please read the SCHOOL ACADEMIC STANDARDS POLICY in the community hub. The link is given below. The minimum promotion and admission requirements for the next grade level for students from CP1-A level 2 are an aggregate minimum of 50% across all subjects, and individual subjects should have a minimum of 50% in each subject. There will be no retest for the promotion examinations.
We want all our students to thrive academically and develop strong self-discipline, which are essential for future success. Our school code of conduct, behavior contracts, and advisory programs are in place to support this growth. As students prepare for the next grade level, their behavior and self-discipline will be important factors in the admissions process. You can play a crucial role by having regular conversations with your child about their learning journey and how they are developing both academically and behaviorally.

Vandalism
School vandalism refers to the deliberate destruction or defacement of school property. It can include actions like:
Graffiti: Writing or drawing on walls, desks, or other surfaces.
Breaking windows or doors: Damaging school buildings or other structures.
Destroying furniture or equipment: Breaking chairs, tables, or school technology (e.g., computers, projectors).
Defacing school grounds: Damaging landscaping, sports fields, or playground equipment.
Some of our students are scribbling graffiti on bathroom walls and desks, and some have gone beyond. We have spoken to our students in general and we feel your word too can help. They should be encouraged to exhibit restraint and have respect for the facilities they use on a daily basis.
World Book Day: Celebrating Stories, Building Readers
To mark World Book Day, students across the school took part in a collaborative book summarizing activity; sharing stories they’ve been reading and presenting key ideas as a team. This event supported our Cambridge English goal of helping students collate and summarise information from a range of texts.
It was a fun and engaging way to strengthen reading and communication skills, while celebrating the joy books bring into our lives.
We encourage parents to continue supporting reading at home. With your involvement, we can grow a strong reading culture that inspires a lifelong love of learning in our children.
Mentoring Program Hosts Lifesaving CPR Workshop
This week during our mentoring program we were looking at physical wellbeing. To wrap up the week we were thrilled to welcome special guests from the Royal Lifesaving Society of Zambia. Our students had the incredible opportunity to learn vital CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) skills through a hands-on workshop led by experienced professionals.
The session was educational, equipping students with knowledge that could one day help save a life. We extend our sincere thanks to the Royal Lifesaving Society of Zambia for their time, dedication, and commitment to building a safer future for all.
School Connect Online (SCO) International Olympiad enhances skills (Math, Science, English, GK, Coding, AI, SCRATCH) for grades 1-12 via an online platform with study materials, practice exams, and skill-focused reports. It features multi-level exams (especially Math/Science) with percentile-based awards, including cash prizes and certificates.
We've partnered with SCO for the February 2025 awards. The registration fee is $8 per subject per child (discounted from $11). Home preparation is required. This is a great opportunity for students who enjoy challenges to deepen their understanding and showcase their skills. Registration link will be sent to you once you confirm your child's name and grade to Mr Mwambazi. The contact number is in the poster.

CP One and CP Two Classes Visit CREED School of Leadership
Our CP One and CP Two classes recently embarked on an exciting adventure to Creed School of Leadership. The students participated in thrilling activities, including hiking and obstacle courses, which promoted teamwork, problem-solving, and physical fitness. The learners had an absolute blast and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
CP Four Class Explores Chemical Changes
The Grade Four class recently visited the science lab to conduct an experiment on chemical changes. The students discovered the differences between chemical and physical changes, developing their scientific inquiry skills and curiosity. This engaging experiment sparked their interest in science and exploration. The CP two class also recently conducted a survey on tally charts to determine their peers' favorite cars. This hands-on activity allowed students to interact with secondary school students, collect data, and present their findings. The learners gained practical experience in data collection, analysis, and presentation.
These activities showcase our students' enthusiasm for learning and growth. We're proud of their achievements and look forward to more exciting experiences!

Under the new ECA framework, training is now better tailored to the developmental needs of each age group. Students train in clearly defined brackets: U9–U11, U12–U15, and U16–U19, allowing our coaches to focus on age-appropriate skills, fitness, and mental preparation. This structure ensures that each athlete is both challenged and supported at the right level—fostering faster growth, better team synergy, and long-term love for the sport.the new structure has also allowed us to have better academic preparations as well.
We’re thrilled to announce that Athletics training is well underway for all age groups—from our spirited Under 9s to the determined Under 19s. This season brings not just the usual excitement of track and field, but also a new sense of order and opportunity thanks to the recently revamped structure of our Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs).
As Usain Bolt famously said, “I trained 4 years to run 9 seconds and people give up when they don’t see results in 2 months.” That’s the spirit we’re building—one of patience, grit, and growth. The new order has brought a sense of rhythm and accountability, with weekly routines now easier to follow and more effective than ever before.
Track legend Wilma Rudolph once said, “The triumph can’t be had without the struggle.” And we’re seeing that truth play out on the field every day—athletes rising to the challenge, supporting one another, and embracing the journey.
Let’s keep the momentum going and cheer on our athletes as they gear up for a season full of dedication, development, and unforgettable moments.
Competition Beware!
Children need to be in school by 7.10 without fail in order to avail the morning warm ups and then the crucial mentoring lesson that starts at 7.20.
Please pick up your wards on time - 15.30 is pick up time on weekdays for Primary and Secondary - all pick ups should definitely be done before 16.00. And on Fridays pick ups should be done no later than 13.30.
Please collect your car stickers if you have not. Cars without stickers will be stopped and checked for verification, and that would lead to traffic congestion at drop off and pick time.
