“If winter comes, can spring be far behind?” - Percy Bysshe Shelley
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The academic year 2024-25 is done. And it was the best year we have had. So thank you. Here’s looking forward to the new academic year that will commence from 25th August 2025.
Congratulations to CP6 and LS3 CheckPoint students on their brilliant performances. Their first ever Cambridge Board exams and they’ve come out with the proverbial ‘flying colours’.
All the best to our IGCSE2, AS and A Level students who just completed their Board exams. AS and A results will be declared in late July and IGCSE 2 results in early August. May they all do themselves and their parents and the school proud!
For the rest of the Secondary School, particularly Upper Secondary - please use this long break to hone your skills and to sharpen your saws academically, even as you relax and rejuvenate and connect with family and friends.
This last week has been busy and celebratory. The Graduations for Reception, CP6, LS3, IGCSE and A Levels found our graduating students and their parents immortalising these moments in their memories (and on their phones). And those class parties on the last day of school - they always make me feel like going back to school.
To everyone - when was the last time you did something for the first time? These holidays, try something new! That will give us a lot of stories to share when we come back in August.
On behalf of the board, the school management and all staff members, I wish you all a wonderful time reconnecting deeply with your children. And once again echo what i started with - ‘thank you’.
Warm regards
Shouquot Hussain
Head of School
This year had the focus on administering Cambridge Checkpoint examinations, improving results in the board exams, and improving academic processes to get better performance in all classes. We have seen some progress, and there are things we are still working on.
Your support, timely feedback, and openness in listening to us have helped us a lot. Now it is time to relax and enjoy the moments of togetherness. Every small activity, approached mindfully, becomes an opportunity for growth.
This vacation, please take time to have enriching conversations and enrichment activities with your child(ren). Happy holidays!
As we have reached the end of another busy and rewarding term, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the journey we have shared as a school community and to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you.
Pastoral care and wellbeing remain at the heart of all we do. We understand that academic success goes hand-in-hand with emotional and social wellbeing. Our pastoral team and student leaders have worked hard this term to ensure that every young person feels safe, supported, and valued in the school. Initiatives around mental health awareness, peer mentoring, and safe spaces have played a vital role in helping students navigate their daily lives with confidence.
We would like to thank our parents and guardians for the ongoing support and partnership. We appreciate your involvement in the student welfare. Your encouragement at home and your communication with us here at school continue to be vital in shaping a positive and supportive environment for all.
As we head into the break, we encourage everyone to take time to rest and recharge. This is a valuable opportunity to reconnect with family, enjoy some calm, and reflect on the progress made this term, not just academically, but personally and emotionally too.
We are proud of the efforts made by our students, their growth, and the care they show to one another. Enjoy the well-deserved break, stay safe, and return ready for the opportunities that lie ahead next term.
With warmest wishes for a restful and joyful holiday.
Tuesday 24th July was Graduation for Reception, CP6 and LS3, and Wednesday 25th June was Graduation for IGCSE 2 and A Levels. - each signalling the transition from one Cambridge Program to the next and beyond. Excellent performances by the graduating classes, rousing speeches by the valedictorians of the respective cohorts, and of course the receiving of the Graduation certificates brightened and heightened the proceedings.! The pride in the countenances of the students and the joy in the faces of parents and other family members added so much lustre to these solemn but celebratory ceremonies.
Special certificates were awarded for Academic Excellence and exemplary discipline for deserving students. For CP6 and LS3, Cambridge CheckPoint certificates were also officially awarded for those students who took the exams. The IGCSE 2 and A Level Graduation ceremonies were honored by the presence of the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) representative Ms Susan Temba, who also addressed the graduating students. The A Level graduation ceremony had the keynote speech delivered by Dr Oli Tooher Hancock, the head of American International School Lusaka (AISL).
We wish all these students the very best as they embark upon the next chapter of their journey. Here are a few glimpses from the graduation ceremonies.
Maitri Khamar of IGCSE 2 participated in ZAMUN (Zambia Model UN) held from 20th to 22nd June, at Martin House. This was immediately after completing her board exams. She chaired a committee, and her performance was commended as outstanding. Below is the citation by the ZAMUN Director, about Maitri’s performance -
“I'd like to take a moment to recognize Maitri's outstanding contributions to her committee this weekend. She demonstrated exceptional professionalism, respect, and dedication, truly representing LOTS to the highest standard. Her presence was a joy, and I hope her efforts will be recognized within the school as well”.
This year has been a journey of learning, growth, and mutual support for both staff and students. As we reflect on the months gone by, we celebrate every student’s progress—their courage to ask for help, their willingness to grow, and their resilience even when the path was challenging.
Some have needed a quiet space, a helping hand, or simply a listening ear. Together, we have walked through morning mentoring sessions, tough conversations, and moments of vulnerability during one-on-one counseling. We are truly proud of the steps our students have taken.
Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you this year. Stay grounded, stay kind, and never forget—you matter.
Thank you for your contributions to the class parties, and your presence at the Graduation (Reception). We are also grateful for your participation in the PTCs.

Now that the academic year has come to a close, we wanted to take a moment to express our sincere appreciation to the parents who attended the Parent-Teacher Conferences held on the 26th. Your participation and engagement are invaluable to us.
We would also like to highlight the fantastic class parties we had on the 25th. It was wonderful to see our students having so much fun and enjoying each other's company. These moments are truly special and create lasting memories for our students.
As we bid farewell to the current academic year, we wish all our students a wonderful break. May this be a time for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation, and may you return refreshed and ready for the new academic year ahead.
1A Year of Growth, Grit, and Greatness
As we close yet another academic year, we reflect with pride on the incredible journey our upper secondary students have taken. From the start, our learners have shown unwavering dedication to their studies—demonstrating discipline, resilience, and a hunger to grow not just academically, but personally.
Throughout the year, we’ve witnessed remarkable transformation in our students. Many have stepped up to leadership, others have pushed their academic boundaries, and all have matured in ways that promise a bright future ahead. The IGCSE 2 and AS/A Level graduations were shining moments, celebrating not just academic milestones, but the spirit, creativity, and potential of each learner.
As we enter the break, we urge our students to take time to rest and recharge—but also to remain intellectually curious. A new academic year lies ahead, and it will demand even more focus, drive, and excellence. Let’s return refreshed, but ready to aim higher than ever before.
To our learners: keep dreaming, keep reading, keep growing. The best is yet to come!
