New beginnings
“Dreams are built thought by thought,
Monuments are built brick by brick”
Dear Parents,
Welcome to LOTS and the Academic Year 2025-26 (if you are new), and welcome back (if you are a returning parent). It is always wonderful to see the school campus come back to life in the chatter and laughter and energy of the young. We hope your children and you bonded well during the vacation. (Some parents were telling me it was too long and they were itching to hand the children back to us!) We look forward to supporting them in all their endeavours this new term, and bask in their joy of learning.
Let me simply highlight a few key aspects, as we commence.
Parent Orientation sessions commence from Monday 1st September and conclude on Monday 8th September (details later in this newsletter).
The new academic block is now ready for occupation, and we thank all parents and students for their patience and support during the construction phase. This will now create more space for everyone.
Our students have already started garnering accolades and medals - our IGCSE Board Exam topper this year is a topper globally, with outstanding scores. Our student won a gold in the SCO International Olympiad and our first Duke of Edinburgh Award Bronze candidates just successfully completed their Bronze Adventure Journey.
Students are now prepping for participation in two upcoming MUNs, gearing up to contest the Student Council elections, and will begin to audition for the School Production.
We have new teachers and new students joining us, who I am sure will add further value to our learning community.
The beginning has been auspicious, and with your support, we shall continue enriching the lives of your children in multiple domains as the year progresses.
Warm regards
Shouquot Hussain

Behavior and classroom adjustment

We also encourage you to speak with your children about being open-minded and welcoming towards their new classmates. Our Pastoral Care team is available to support students during this adjustment period. Should you have any concerns, please direct them to your child’s Academic Coordinator and the Wellbeing Coordinator in the respective section.

As we begin this new school term, we'd like to remind all parents and guardians of a few important guidelines to ensure a smooth start for our learners.
Important Reminders
- Punctuality & Reporting Time: Learners should arrive at school between 7:00 AM and 7:10 AM to settle in calmly and be ready for lessons.
- Uniform: Ensure learners wear the correct school uniform daily, including proper shoes and neat grooming.
- Homework & Reading: Homework will be given Monday to Thursday. Encourage learners to complete it on time and read daily. Reading logs and homework submissions will be monitored closely.
- Stationery: Ensure learners bring necessary stationery daily to support learning activities.
- Communication: Direct concerns or queries to the class teacher first. Teachers will keep you updated on your child's progress.
We value your partnership in guiding our learners to grow academically and socially. Thank you for your continued support in making this school year successful.
Welcome Back to School!
We are so excited to welcome our learners back for the 2025–2026 school year! This year promises new opportunities for growth, learning, and success. Here are some important updates to guide us as we begin the term:
📘 1. Assessments Made Simple
This year, students will be taking biweekly unit assessments as well as formative and summative assessments. This will help us track their learning step by step and ensure they are ready for bigger evaluations.
📂 2. The Student Folder
Each child will have a Student Folder. This special folder is a great way to keep track of unit work, monitor progress, and celebrate achievements. We encourage you to check it regularly with your child.
📞 3. Parent–Teacher Communication
We believe in working hand-in-hand with families. Teachers will schedule parent calling feedback sessions to share updates on your child’s learning needs, expectations, and the support available. This will also be a chance to discuss the school’s academic policy and how we can work together for your child’s success.
📝 4. Study Plans Matter
We encourage all students to create and follow a study plan. Having a routine helps children manage time, reduce stress, and build confidence as they prepare for assessments.
🎯 5. Student Academic Goals
Every student has set academic goals with their teachers for this year. Please take time to go through these goals with your child and encourage them as they work towards achieving them.
Week 1 Highlights
We began the term by focusing on building a strong community. Learners took part in introductions and team-building games that created a welcoming environment and strengthened bonds. This laid the foundation for collaboration and mutual support throughout the term.
Academic preparation was also a priority. Students reflected on their past performance and set clear academic goals, while teachers introduced classroom routines and the Learning Agreement to establish shared expectations. A curriculum overview in each subject gave learners clarity on what lies ahead, encouraging them to approach their studies with focus and determination.
Finally, we reminded learners of the importance of responsibility and discipline. The role of homework and assignments in reinforcing learning was emphasized, along with a review of the Code of Conduct and Uniform Policy. All these activities are designed to align our learners with the focus and discipline needed for their board exam preparations, ensuring they are on the path to success.
