"I would rather be excluded for who I include, than be included for who I exclude"
- Rev. Eston Williams
Dear Parents,
We are a melting pot of cultures here at LOTS: multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-lingual, multi-national. In terms of demography, we are fiercely inclusive. We are one world, one people, one thought—respect differences and provide space for those differences to be celebrated.
As we will during LOTS Founders’ & Culture Day on Friday, 21 March, with multicultural performances, attire, and food. But what I want to emphasize is that this should not remain mere tokenism, paying lip service to the notion of having done our bit for inclusivity. We are not done; we have only started. I say "started" because I have had a few unfortunate pieces of evidence of some of us adults making derogatory remarks about ethnicities, faiths, nationalities, and colors other than their own. This, at LOTS, is unacceptable. Because this permeates down to the children—children who are the future custodians of our world.
Let us use our diverse heritages to strengthen our children’s world, not to divide it. They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so I will let this often-used picture below speak for itself.
Warm regards,
Shouquot Hussain
Head of School
We are conducting mock examinations and other assessments to understand our students’ needs and progress.CP6 and LS3 had mock examinations last week to mainly understand what topics will need more attention during lessons and in extra support lessons. These marks will not be included in the final exam report, and the purpose of this test is to gather information for providing targeted support. A percentage from the formative assessments happening this week and next week will be included in the grade for the end-of-semester report. Assessment papers will be sent home, and you will be notified on the WhatsApp groups so that you can discuss the result with your child.
This week students looked at habit six in their mentorship groups. Habit 6 is called ‘Synergize’ which means working together with others to achieve a better outcome than anyone could alone by combining strengths and perspectives, essentially creating a solution that is greater than its parts, it’s about valuing differences and collaborating effectively to find new solutions.
We would like you to enforce this by ensuring that our students apply habit 6 in their everyday lives away from school.
We would like to thank our dear parents for your response to buying school uniforms. We continue encouraging all those who have not done so to visit the uniform shop and buy uniforms.
The LOTS car stickers are currently out of stock. We shall notify you to come and collect when they are available.
We will be reaching out to all the parents with students reporting late for school on a daily basis. The purpose of this exercise is to find out what causes this and find solutions.
Benefits:
1. WSC is run and validated by Yale University, which is the number 2 university in the world after Harvard, and therefore the validation and recognition is huge! Adds so much value to the student's portfolio, specially when seeking college admissions.
2. It really sharpens writing skills, debating skills and kinesthetic skills - since these are the 3 domains participants are tested on. Therefore during training, a lot of the focus is on critical and analytical thinking skills, and problem solving skills. All of which are transferable life skills that come in handy anywhere anytime in life.
3. Learning to really work as a team is another great experience which has excellent intangible benefits. Additionally, the networking that happens across students of different nations goes a long way in enhancing the student's credentials as a global citizen.
Process and schedule:
1. School internal sign ups and selections and grouping of participants into groups of three.
2. Training and research facilitation by school mentors.
3. Regional round in Lusaka in March 2025.
4. Global round in either Bangkok or Dubai etc in around August-September for teams that clear the regionals.
5. The Mega-Global world finals at Yale University, USA.
Bottom line:
The student grows in tangible and intangible ways through the experience, because it is a very special and well curated one. The exposure, the rigour, the discipline - chisels and hones not just skills that will come in handy throughout one's professional life, but also provides a huge boost to one's self esteem and self belief. The sense of 'This is me', and 'Yes I can' is reaffirmed.
Best wishes to our 32 brave hearts contesting this weekend.
Road Safety: A Shared Responsibility
Ensuring the safety of our students on the road is a top priority for our school community. Whether walking, cycling, or commuting by car or the schoolbus, everyone plays a role in keeping our roads safe.
This week our students and teachers had the privilege of hearing directly from RTSA through kiddies commuting about road safety. Some safety tips shared;
Pedestrians should always use designated crosswalks and stay alert—avoid distractions like using headsets and mobile phones while walking.
Cyclists must wear helmets and follow traffic rules, and wear bright colours to make them visible on the road especially in the dark.
Students should always wear their seatbelts in vehicles.
Students should not drive illegally which is driving under 18 years old.
By working together and following these simple yet essential road safety measures, we can create a safer environment for everyone.

CP3A Assembly
We had a successful assembly today, where our students showcased their knowledge, confidence, and creativity. The theme of discipline was well-explored through engaging presentations, a poem and a song.
Our students demonstrated a strong grasp of English language concepts, including parts of speech, and provided impressive examples to illustrate their understanding. In science, they took us on a fascinating journey through the human life cycle, sharing fun facts and insights.
The highlight of the assembly was undoubtedly the poem, dance and song on discipline, which were delivered with enthusiasm and passion.
