Dear Parents,
We are trying our best to get your children to question and to ask whenever and wherever they need to. That is the only way to grow. Period.
Application forms for participation in TEDx are out now - for students from LS1 upwards. An opportunity to ask hard questions and be heard across the universe.
World Scholarโs Cup Global Round in Dubai - another opportunity for LOTS Acorns to ask and find answers globally.
National Debate League Pan African finals in Capetown - where our 5 qualifying champion teams await the opportunity to question the status quo.
The Literacy Week that just concluded - had our students reading and asking - right from the Early Years to the A Levels.ย
The upcoming School Production - will be a quest for our students to ask more of themselves and what they are capable of outside the classroom.
And all this is just the beginning. Watch this space.
Warm regards
Shouquot Hussain
Head of School
As we introduce biweekly assessments, we want to reassure you that these are designed as formative tools. This means their primary purpose is to guide and improve teaching and help us understand how best to support your childโs learning, rather than simply measuring achievement.
Teachers will use the results to provide meaningful feedback to students, adjust teaching strategies to meet individual needs, build studentsโ confidence in their ability to learn and grow and to keep the school leadership informed about the pace at which learning is happening.
For Upper Secondary students, while assessments will feel more serious as they prepare for external exams, we are equally committed to keeping them constructive and focused on growth.
Together, letโs help students see assessments as a tool for learning, not a judgment of their ability.
As part of promoting holistic wellbeing, our students have been guided through the Code of Conduct. They now have a clearer understanding of how respect, discipline, and responsibility contribute to their growth. We encourage you to discuss these principles with your child so that together, we can nurture a positive character and strong academic focus.

Celebrating Literacy and Learning at LOTS!
This past week, Lusaka Oaktree School came alive with creativity as we celebrated Literacy Week. From the hilarious โMeme Your Meaningโ challenge, to the energy of Drop Everything and Read, and the fun of Silly Socks Day, our learners showed that reading and expression can be both exciting and meaningful. The week ended with Character Day, where students brought their favorite literary heroes to life, reminding us that stories are powerful bridges of imagination.
As we celebrate these moments, we also want to remind all parents and learners that attendance for IGCSE and A Level afternoon classes is mandatory. These sessions form the backbone of academic preparation, and consistent presence is vital for success in upcoming board examinations.
Finally, every Tuesday afternoon is dedicated to extracurricular activities for our Upper Secondary students. These activities enrich learning beyond the classroom by building teamwork, leadership, and creativity. Parents are reminded that students who choose not to take part may be picked at 12:40 p.m.
Together, let us continue to balance academic rigor with creativity and growth

Our Sports ECAs have kicked off in style, and the excitement is contagious! With a wide range of activities on offer, every child has the chance to find their passion, push their limits, and shine. Hereโs a look at whatโs happening on the courts and fields this season:
Basketball ๐ : Fast breaks, quick passes, and plenty of baskets! The basketball squads wasted no time showing off their energy and teamwork, with students eager to develop their shooting and defensive skills.
Football โฝ : The pitch was alive with action as our young footballers dribbled, tackled, and scored their way through the first sessions. Team spirit was at an all-time high!
Volleyball ๐ : Serves, spikes, and rallies kept the games flowing as students worked hard to build communication and coordination on the court.
Netball ๐ : With sharp passing and excellent footwork, our netball teams showed great determination. The enthusiasm was clear with every goal scored.
Hockey ๐ : Sticks clashed and the ball flew across the pitch as hockey players demonstrated speed, focus, and resilience.
Tennis ๐พ : From forehands to backhands, students enjoyed honing their techniques and competing in fun rallies under the sun.
Table Tennis ๐ : Quick reflexes and sharp concentration were on full display as players enjoyed exciting rallies across the tables.
Touch Rugby ๐ : Full of energy and movement, our touch rugby players showed fantastic teamwork, agility, and determination.
The atmosphere was buzzing across all activities, with smiles, laughter, and plenty of encouragement from teammates. This is just the beginning and we canโt wait to see how our students continue to grow, compete, and celebrate sport throughout the season!
We are delighted to announce that the first week of our Extracurricular Activities (ECAs) Clubs at Lusaka Oaktree School has started on a very positive note. The level of participation and enthusiasm shown by both students and staff has been truly encouraging, setting a strong foundation for an exciting term ahead.
This term, our students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of clubs designed to nurture diverse talents and interests. These include Chess, Drama & Theatre, Music & Choir, Debate & Public Speaking, STEM, Art & Design, Entrepreneurship, Red Cross, Wildlife & Scouts, among others. Each of these clubs offers learners a platform to discover new skills, express creativity, and build teamwork.
We would like to take this opportunity to encourage those who have not yet signed up for a club to do so, as ECAs are an important part of developing creativity, skills, and teamwork outside the classroom. In addition, we kindly remind parents and guardians to ensure that payments for the paid clubs are completed promptly to enable smooth running of activities.
We are excited about this promising start and look forward to seeing continued energy and commitment from our learners throughout the term. Together, we can make this a memorable and impactful experience for all involved.
Let us keep the spirit alive as we nurture talents, build character, and inspire growth beyond the classroom.
