"Celebrations are a way of counting our blessings. So let's keep counting them - by dancing to the music of time and singing the songs of life"
- ancient indian proverb
Dear Parents,
It was such a pleasure to see the term end on such a happy and entertaining high. Those of you who were there for LOTS Founder's and Culture Day on Friday 21st April, would catch on to what I am talking about. The way you supported your children to express themselves, and the generosity you exhibited with the dishes you brought to share, contributed immensely to the festive and celebratory vibe of the day. As they say, actions speak louder than words. We were commemorating the birth of LOTS, yes - but we were also manifesting its continued growth. So thank you.
Moving on, CP6 and LS3 students (those who have signed up) will be sitting for the first ever Check Point exams at LOTS. We just ran a mock, and to address the gaps identified, we will be running check point support lessons throughout this break - from 24th March to 4th April. If your child is registered to sit for the Check Point exams, please ensure they attend this support program that the school is providing during these holidays, at no extra cost.
There is a lot in store for all LOTS Acorns after the break - each upcoming event/competition/program an opportunity for growth - academic and otherwise. So do use this break to help your children recharge their batteries, rejuvenate their minds and bodies - and connect to family and the environment with as much love and kindness you can instill in them. So that they come back to school with renewed vigour.
So, till we meet again on 7th April, here's wishing all of you a happy term break.
Warm regards,
Shouquot Hussain
Head of School
We have reached the end of term 2. We have made progress in strengthening our parent feedback process, parent academic information process through meetings, timely information for assessments, and related information. We are working on making our study packs more effective for the students. Some classes are using Google Classrooms to access the digital resources given in different subjects. The school librarian will have a virtual meeting with a representative of Cambridge Go that we are subscribed to for digital textbooks.
Students who are taking upcoming checkpoint examinations will have support lessons in school next two weeks.
Student improvement can be evaluated through other avenues where students present their learning and understanding. Class assemblies were evident of the various skills and knowledge students have acquired this term in different classes. Confidence, Collaboration, Self management, Organization skills and right dispositions are life skills that the students acquire throughout the year. We were glad to see improvement in students in these areas as well.
We would like to thank our dear parents for your support throughout the second term. As we came to the close of this school term, we would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for your unwavering support and commitment to the success of our students.
Your involvement, feedback, and partnership in your child's education are invaluable. We are grateful for the trust you have placed in us to nurture and guide your children. Your active participation, whether through parent-teacher conferences, supporting your child at home, has been a vital part of the positive atmosphere in our school community. We would like such to continue for a better future.
We are pleased to report that we have recorded improved student behavior across the school this term, and much of this can be attributed to the strong partnership we have with parents and teachers in reinforcing the importance of respect, kindness, discipline, empathy and responsibility. On Friday, March 21st our school community came together to celebrate a significant milestone in our history – our Founders and Cultural Day. This momentous occasion honored the vision, dedication, and values that have shaped Lusaka Oaktree School into the thriving institution it is today.
The event was a vibrant celebration of our school's heritage, with a variety of activities showcasing the achievements of our founders and the growth of our school. The atmosphere was electric, with students, parents, and staff all coming together to make the day truly unforgettable.
Highlights of the day included a colorful parade of students marching with their national flags, a delicious array of cultural dishes brought in by parents, and outstanding performances by our talented students. Our board chair delivered a heartfelt speech, and our staff members even took to the stage to showcase their own hidden talents!
We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this day so special. We are proud to be part of such a vibrant and diverse community, and we look forward to many more celebrations together!
End of Semester Highlights
As we wrap up another fantastic semester we want to celebrate the incredible efforts of our students in fostering a supportive and engaged school community.
Our mentoring program has continued to grow, with parents and guest speakers from different professions bringing insights our students can apply to their day to day life.
In learning support, our dedicated team has worked closely with students, frequent meetings with parents and created Personalized Education Plans to ensure no child is left behind.
Finally, the Student Council has been busy leading impactful initiatives. A highlight of the term was the primary student council's visit to the Lusaka animal welfare shelter, where they donated essential supplies and spent time with the animals. while secondary led Spirit Week which brought excitement and unity, with themed dress-up days and activities. It was a wonderful way to bring everyone together.
A big thank you to all students, staff, and parents for their support in making this semester a success and focusing on the social emotional side of learning in school.

CP 3C Assembly
Our talented Cambridge Primary 3C students showcased their skills and knowledge in a captivating assembly. The event began with an informative presentation on some of the world's religions, including Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism. Our students demonstrated their understanding of the importance of respecting and appreciating different faiths.
Next, they took us on a fascinating journey to explore various animal habitats, including grasslands, forests, deserts, and Polar Regions. The students impressively outlined the unique characteristics of each habitat and the amazing animals that call them home.
The assembly also featured an energetic "Freeze Dance" performance, which got everyone moving and grooving! Our students then delivered a heartfelt poem about the importance of kindness, highlighting the impact of a simple smile on those around us.
To conclude, they performed a French song, emphasizing the value of learning new languages and cultures.
