“Removing competition is not kindness, because that kills the urge to improve. Keeping competition healthy is kindness, because that allows room for failure” - S.H.
Dear Parents,
The Student Council elections are coming up and there will be competition there. They are all campaigning hard. Those who win, will get an opportunity to practice structured leadership. Those who do not, will have built resilience.
The ISAZ volleyball tournament is coming up, and there will be competition there. If our teams win, they will have trophies and bragging rights. If they do not, they would have improved their game, having played with teams better than themselves.
Bottom line - when you allow competition, growth never ends. And when you ensure that competition is healthy, character is built.
Warm regards
Shouquot Hussain

How do we measure student learning?
In our Early Years, students show us their growth through activities and assemblies. Our Reception class recently shared what they're learning, highlighting their increasing confidence.
For Primary and Secondary students, we're using formative assessments to pinpoint areas of strength and opportunities for growth. Students will soon receive feedback and grades on their performance. Based on this data, teachers will review important concepts in class, ensuring everyone has a strong foundation.
Parents and guardians are partners with the school in pastoral care. Their role is to nurture love, discipline, values, safety, and guidance at home while collaborating with teachers to ensure the child develops holistically—academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. We should improve on the school - home collaboration to help the students in all aspects of their lives.
LOTS GOES TO THE POLLS
Our Student Council elections have been an exciting process so far. Candidates have been creative with the posters which have colored the school. On Wednesday, 24 primary school candidates and 23 Secondary school candidates delivered persuasive speeches to their peers. votes have now been cast and officially closed. We look forward to announcing the results on Monday—stay tuned!

On 20th September 2025, twenty-six students from Lusaka Oaktree School proudly represented our school at a Model United Nations (MUN) Conference hosted by Baobab College. They joined delegates from seven other schools in an enriching day of debate and collaboration.
Our students demonstrated commendable skills in diplomacy, critical thinking, and teamwork as they engaged with global issues in a spirit of respect and cooperation. Their enthusiasm and confidence was evident throughout the sessions, and they expressed eagerness to continue growing in this platform.
We are encouraged by their positive participation and are looking forward to engaging them more in future MUN conferences, where our students can further develop their leadership, public speaking, and problem-solving abilities. Attached are some highlights captured during the conference.

CREED Leadership Camp: Building Leaders of Tomorrow
Last week, our students embarked on an unforgettable journey of growth, teamwork, and leadership at the CREED Leadership Camp.
From Monday to Wednesday, our IGCSE 1 learners dived into engaging workshops, outdoor challenges, and team-building activities designed to strengthen their confidence and collaboration skills. One of the highlights was when students worked together to prepare their own meals—dividing tasks, organizing ingredients, and cooking side by side. It was a true test of cooperation and planning, and the results were both delicious and rewarding!
From Thursday to Saturday, the spotlight shifted to our IGCSE 2 and A Level students, who took on more advanced leadership sessions. They not only tackled problem-solving challenges and dynamic group projects but also demonstrated responsibility and unity as they prepared meals together, proving that leadership is about service as much as it is about guiding others.
The camp was filled with laughter, challenges, and breakthroughs. Students returned more motivated, with a stronger sense of resilience, teamwork, and purpose.
The CREED Leadership Camp 2025 has once again shown that leadership is not just about titles—it’s about vision, action, and impact.
This week in Sports ECA, our learners displayed excellent energy, discipline, and teamwork as they prepared for upcoming competitions. Training sessions across football, athletics, volleyball, and basketball focused on sharpening skills, improving fitness, and strengthening resilience. Coaches also highlighted the importance of teamwork, respect, and fair play, values that guide our young athletes both on and off the field.
Looking ahead, we are excited for the volleyball and basketball fixtures scheduled in the coming days. These matches will give our players the opportunity to put their hard work into action and proudly represent the school. We encourage parents and guardians to continue supporting the teams as they build confidence and strive for success.
We are delighted to share that our clubs in the Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) continue to thrive in Week 5. The participation and enthusiasm from our learners remain encouraging, and we appreciate the continued support from you, our parents.
This week, our focus was on Karate, a club that instills the values of discipline and perseverance in our students. Through this activity, children are not only learning self-defense skills but also developing resilience, respect, and focus—qualities that positively impact their academics and personal growth.
We encourage you to continue sending your children to these clubs, as they play a vital role in shaping their talents, character, and holistic development.
Thank you for walking this journey with us.
Please avail TEDx tickets from the admin front desk - your presence will really lift up the spirits of our student speakers and performers.
