Our mentorship and wellbeing program this week focussed on the following :
Under personal development and growth we looked at time management. Time management is the ability to use one’s time efficiently and effectively. It involves planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks to maximize productivity and achieve set goals within a specified time frame.
They also looked at the benefits of time management to a student.
Under wellbeing check and mindfulness the students looked at Gratitude. They discussed what gratitude is and why it is important to show gratitude. Kindly encourage them to make a gratitude card for someone.
So our 12 bravehearts are ready to share their experiences, honour the epiphanies they arrived at, and challenge the status quo - on a global stage. The stage of TEDx. In the first ever school TEDx event in Zambia. These pioneers will be scaffolded by the presence of a few esteemed adult speakers as well. What they need is your audience. Let us be there as they do Zambia proud.

On Thursday 3rd February, LOTS parents presented tokens of appreciation to the auxiliary staff at LOTS. And on Friday 4th February, as teachers readied themselves to celebrate Teachers' Day, LOTS parents presented tokens of appreciation to all teachers.
The school is unequivocally grateful to all parents who took part in and contributed to this generous and thoughtful gesture. And to Ms Siame and Ms Winnie - who spearheaded this initiative on behalf of the parents.
“It’s far better to persuade than to force”, a theme that resonated through the Assembly with joyful sounds. This notion was beautifully woven together with skits and poetry, where the chants of persuasion echoed in the air, creating an atmosphere of enchantment.
The learners also had a captivating podcast, named LOTS Acorns, that looked into the vibrant world of sports and Recreation, planting seeds of inspiration for all who tuned in. Thank you to all the parents who attended.
We had the Early Years Middle class B leading assembly as well this week. The students displayed how they start their day with positive affirmations and explained body parts and their functions.
It was a resonant assembly where we could see the growth in the learners - their growing confidence, their courage in facing an audience, and their pride and joy in performance and representation. A big thank you to all the parents who attended.
'The PE and Sports department organized a very interesting set of volleyball matches - staff vs students m. The intent was for teachers bas students to Bond, to connect, to understand each other outside the obvious environment of the classroom.
And it was so much fun - both for those of us who played, and those who watched and cheered both teams on. Well, staff win the best of 3 matches 2- 1, but I have a niggling feeling the students were perhaps kind to us and let us win.On Thursday 3rd October, post lunch, the school Sports and PE.
The IGCSE-1 students recently participated in an enriching 2 nights 3 days Leadership Camp at the CREED School of Leadership. Themed "Transforming Challenges into Opportunities," the camp aimed to equip students with the skills to face adversity and turn it into personal and community growth.
Throughout the camp, students engaged in a variety of activities designed to enhance critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. The interactive sessions focused on overcoming real-world challenges, fostering resilience, and encouraging innovative problem-solving approaches.
The students returned inspired and motivated, ready to apply the lessons learned to their academic and personal lives, demonstrating that with the right mindset, every challenge can indeed become an opportunity for growth and success.
The camp has proven to be a significant step in shaping the future leaders among our students, and we look forward to seeing the impact of this experience in the classroom and beyond.
The IGCSE-2 and A-Level students recently participated in a University Guidance Orientation conducted by the LOTS university Guidance team headed by our Career Counsellor and the Coordinator. The guidance session aimed at preparing them for their next academic steps. The event, organized to help students make informed decisions about their university choices, provided valuable insights into the application process, course selection, and career opportunities.
A special focus was placed on the importance of aligning academic strengths and personal interests with university courses.
The orientation ended with an interactive Q&A session, where students received advice on balancing academics with extracurriculars and setting long-term academic goals. This orientation was a crucial step in helping students prepare for a successful transition to higher education. If parents have any queries, please address them to Ms Neeta Naidu at careercounseling@lusakaoaktree.school and to Mr Victor Mwaekwa at victor_mwaekwa@lusalaoaktree.school .

For Leadership camp trips, please ensure your children are carrying items as instructed by the list.
Dear LOTS Families,
We strongly urge you to prioritize your child's immediate return to school. Every day of missed classes results in academic loss, which can be challenging to recover from. Consistent attendance is essential to ensure your child does not fall behind in their studies and can fully participate in the school community.
Kind Regards,
