“Inquiry is not just about knowing how to plan - it's about how we teach. It's about what we say to kids and how we say it. It's about the way we listen and the way we feel about what our kids are saying. It's about knowing when to step back and when to step in. The language we use and the silences we deliberately leave. It's about what we are thinking about what we are doing.”
~Kath Murdoch
Dear Parents,
Modern teaching does not exclude any of the strong aspects of traditional teaching, but contextualises and integrates them into the more expansive and inclusive frameworks and methodologies we now employ. You still have to cover content. You still have to recall information. But today you do not just store and reproduce it - you now put it to use. It is in getting our students to experientially practice the knowledge and skillsets imparted that adds real value to their learning. More active participation, more coconstruction - and therefore more ownership.
In that vein of inquiry based learning, we are pitching our ‘Literacy Week’ (8th to 12th September) in experiential terms, where students will be involved in certain deliberate activities that will scaffold their learning in terms of reading and other aspects of literacy. Of course the week is going to culminate with ‘Character Day’ on Friday 12th September - where students and teachers will dress up as their favourite literary characters (disney creations are also allowed). And I am looking forward to donning a wig again!
Warm regards
Shouquot Hussain

🤝 Parent Orientation
We would like to thank all parents who joined us for the recent Parent Orientation. It was a valuable session where we shared expectations between the school, parents, and students.
These meetings are very important as they keep you informed about updates across academics, sports, and pastoral care. If you were unable to attend, we warmly encourage you not to miss the next one.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support in your child’s learning journey. Together, we make a stronger school community!
Thank you to all parents who attended the Orientation where we outlined the curriculum, subject offerings, and key programs. A gentle reminder: all IGCSE 1 and AS Level Subject Choice Forms must be signed and submitted promptly if not yet done.
This term, our students have been throwing themselves into a fantastic range of sports ECAs, with plenty of energy, teamwork, and smiles along the way! From the fast breaks of basketball to the quick rallies in tennis and table tennis, there’s always excitement on the courts. Out on the fields, football, hockey, and touch rugby have been giving students the chance to sharpen their skills while learning the value of teamwork and fair play.
Our netball and volleyball teams have been working hard, showing great determination and spirit in every game, while swimming continues to be a big favourite for building confidence and strength in the water. Even our early years students have been diving into age-appropriate activities, sparking a lifelong love of movement and active play from the very beginning.
We are also very excited to share that we will be hosting our first-ever LOTS FC Tournament this term! This promises to be a fantastic event, bringing our school community together to celebrate football, showcase talent, and cheer on our players as they make history in this inaugural competition.
It’s been wonderful to see so many students involved, trying new things, and giving their best. Whether competing, training, or simply having fun, our ECAs remind us that sport is all about friendship, resilience, and celebrating each other’s achievements.
Selection of ECA clubs and sports to be completed and submitted, if not yet done.
For Character Day on Friday the 12th, do support your children to dress up as literary characters
New parents please collect car stickers, if you still have not.
