Wolverine (The animal not the superhero)
Introduction
This page will tell you about wolverines and hopefully you have not confused it with the superhero (yet).What do they eat?
The wolverine's diet consists of anything from small eggs to ungulates large prey species include reindeer, roe deer, wild sheep, elk, and red deer. wolverines can be very fast when on the attack reaching speeds of 48 miles per hour. wolverines have been reported driving wolves, cougars, and even bears to steal their carcass they also have been reported scavenging whale, walrus and seal carcass. A wolverine 's diet will vary with season and location.
What does it look like?
Wolverines are terrestrial mammals with a body length of 65 to 105 centimeters and a tail length from 13 to 26 centimeters and shoulder heights of 36 to 45 centimeters. Wolverines weigh 9 to 30 kilograms they have powerful limbs and 5 toes on each paw wolverine fur is usually brown or brownish-black with a yellow or gold stripe extending from the crown of the head across to each shoulder and to the rump.
What are it's predators?
Wolverine have few if any natural predators they are very aggressive and able to defend themselves against predators much larger than they are, such as wolves, and mountain lions however golden eagles, wolves, black bears and brown bears are a threat to inexperienced or young wolverines
Where can you find them?
Wolverines can be found in North America, North Eurasia, Scandinavia, and Russia. Historically wolverines were found in southern areas of Europe and North America they are also found in Canada and Alaska. Wolverines are found in alpine forests, tundra, open grassland and boreal shrub transition zones at or above timberline they live in areas with not a lot of human life and they need a large undisturbed range to survive.
