WHAT HAPPENED IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
The American Revolution was a big time in American history. In the American Revolution great Britain's 13 American colonies got there independence from Great Britain. The American Revolution lasted 8 years from 1775 to 1783. In the American the colonies were under British control.
The colonies wanted freedom and to get that they needed to fight the STRONGEST army in the world. The colonists were very mad because Great Britain is 3,000 miles (5,000) away. The colonists thought that it was UNFAIR that the crown was very very faraway so so the American's requited men to fight lead by George Washington. In the American Revolution many people were poor because the British were informing very large large taxes on the American's. The stamp act people had to pay the British stamps on all paper products such as playing cards, books, or to write. Other taxes were called the Townshend acts taxed tea paper paint lead glass this made the colonists very very very mad. In order to keep the American "under control" the British government sent British solders to to Boston MA. The day of March,5,1770 some British solders fired in to a group of British Solders fired in to a Group of Americans. This later became known as the Boston Massacre with a total of 5 dead it was probably the smallest massacre in history . In 1773, Britton Made a law that tea sold by the British is to be sold cheaper than Colonial merchants. On Dec. 16, 1773 colonists went on a ship carrying a ton of tea imported from Britain and through all of the tea into the water. In 1774 the British government made laws even harder on the American Colonists. The harshest law was part of the intolerable acts. In witch the British closed Boston harbor until the Americans payed for all the tea they through in to the harbor and Massachusetts was put under military rule. The colonists now new that they needed to act together. In 1774 representatives from every state except Georgia met in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Now many colonists were thinking things like "this is to much." or "this is not going down Peacefully." So the colonists prepared to fight. They formed gropes of solders called Minuit Men who were to be ready at a minutes notice. In April 1775 Great Britton sent soldiers to seise the colonists military supplies in concord Massachusetts. Paul Revere and Willam Dawes rode to warn the colonists that the British were coming. On April,9,1775 a group of Minute Men met the British in Lexington after a short fight the British moved on to Concord. vAnother group of Minute Men forced them to turn back. The battles of Lexington and Concord started here. The second continental congress met in Philadelphia Pennsylvania May 1775. They brought together the military forces to form the continental army. Gorge Washington took command and stated training his men rite away.
Before 1776 most people wanted to stay with the British king. They just wanted to get Britain to do what they wanted to happen. But as we went into war more and more colonists wanted to separate from Britton. On July 4, 1776 the continental congress passed the Declaration Of Independence and the 13 colonies became the United States of America (USA). The Americans struggled agents the British the best army in the world. In summer - autumn 0f 1776 the Americans were forced out of New York. The Americans were forced across New Jersey How ever on Dec,25-26,1776 Washington and his tropes crossed the Delaware river in the dead of night (Midnight) to return to New Jersey. He had 2,400 troops with him and soon won important battles at Trenton and Prinston these wins help keep the fight for independence alive. The turning part of the war was the battle of The Saratoga in New York. On Oct, 17, 1777 General Horatio Gates army lost agents the Americans these wins brought the French to our side. The Americans camped at Vally Forge that winter. That winter Ben Franklin sent a "Baron".(He was not a baron or a general.) To drill a professional army and he succeeded very well. that spring General Washington resined from the army he quoted " I came in as a general and I will Leave as a private citizen.'' With that he went back to his farm. The Americans won the American Revolution proving to the British That we are a force to recon with. America is now the largest and most professional army in the world.
