Louis transformed Jazz in the 1920’s, and gave it a directional purpose, he changed it with his brilliant technique, and his sense of harmony, he changed jazz, and influenced many muscians.

Who Inspired Louis Armstrong?



Louis Armstrong got his first big break in 1922 when cornetist King Oliver invited him to Chicago to join his band, this was a huge step in his jazz career.

Lil Hardin was a jazz pianist, composer, arranger, singer, and bandleader. She was the second wife of Louis Armstrong with whom she collaborated on many recordings in the 1920s, and yes, Louis is getting all of the attention, lets give Lil Hardin some!

n 1922 Louis Armstrong joined Fletcher Henderson’s band in New York City for a year, and his music developed beyond the traditional New Orleans style, inspiring him to do more singing and playing his cornet.
