The Los Angeles Fire Department(LAFD) is a firefighting company that is based in the City of you guessed it Los Angeles. If you are wondering these questions like, How can you fight a fire on a tall tower or how can you reach a forest fire. Well this will tell you about the What (Truck) companies run with LAFD. Alright so we start off with the Engine. The engine is a fire truck that does not have a ladder but it has a mind of its own. Instead of a ladder the engine has a fire hose on top of the truck. Like a water cannon. Maybe they use the engine for Airplane fires a LAX Because a Airport fire truck is very similar to the engine but it would be yellow, that would be cool. Now the ladder is the slightly larger version of the engine but the only thing is it has a ladder if you can tell from its name. The ladder can go up to about 100 feet. That’s about 10 stories TALL. Now those trucks are the basics some of these are fire trucks that you might not even know about. This one of these trucks is called the Hazardous material also known as HAZMAT. What is a HAZMAT? A HAZMAT is a fire truck that helps with toxic chemicals, fuels nuclear waste products and more. Say if there were a oil tanker tipped over on a highway ,the dispatch at the station would say We need HAZMAT 1 then the truck rolls out the station, passes all cars and red lights and reaches to the oil spill in a matter of minutes. Now this truck is going to be a bit weird. This is not even a truck this is called the fire helicopter also known as the
Sikorsky S-70. The helicopter or should I say Air Ops can fight long distant places and drop water at a forest of hill fire. Well the DC-10 tanker is way better at fighting forest fires and other unrelated fires but hey the helicopter still saves peoples lives.
