Albert Anson Dorrance the fourth was born in Bombay, India April 9, 1951. Anson Dorrance is a 1974 graduate of UNC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and philosophy, in fall 2017 Anson Dorrance will enter his 41 year of service to UNC soccer programs. Anson Dorrance has been the national coach of the year for men and women, in 2012 Anson Dorrance became the first coach in NCAA history to win 20 championships coaching a single sport. Under Anson Dorrance only 11 times in 38 years have the Tar Heels lost more than two games in a season. Anson Dorrance has won one of the highest honors possible from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the Walt Chyzowych Award for lifetime coaching achievement
