Teacher accounts are granted to all teachers who complete the teacher registration process. For more information on the teacher portal and the role of teachers in the challenge, visit the "Teacher Portal" page of this playbook.
Super-admins can manage teacher accounts in the "Modules > Teachers" section of the super-admin portal. This page offers the super-admin the ability to (i) view, edit and delete the individual user profiles, (ii) amend the teachers marking/moderation and administration permissions; (iii) view and adjust the teachers score-breakdown; (iv) review their credibility weighting history; and (v) view an individual teachers' certificate.
Super-admins can manage teacher accounts in the "Modules > Teachers" section of the super-admin portal. This page lists every single teacher that has completed the teacher registration process and details information on their user profile and their interactions with the system, including: their contact details, credibility weighting, number of points earned, number of reviews complete, their school affiliation, etc.
Super-admin users can edit teacher profiles in the "Modules > Teachers" page of the super-admin portal by clicking on the "pen/paper" icon in the actions column of the teacher table. Fields configurable in the teacher profile by the super-admin include:
First name (required)
Last name (required)
Mobile
Gender (required)
School (required)
Champion Configuration (legacy configuration, can be ignored)
Enabled Configuration (to be selected for active teacher accounts)
Credibility weighting (super-admins can change the teacher credibility weighting)
Email/Username (required)
Password (super-admins can reset the teacher password)
Super-admin users can delete teacher profiles in the "Modules > Teachers" page of the super-admin portal by clicking on the "trash can" icon in the actions column of the teacher table.
Super-admin users can add points to a teacher profile in the "Modules > Teachers" page of the super-admin portal by clicking on the "up/down arrows" icon in the actions column of the teacher table. The super-admin is required enter
the amount of points that he/she wishes to add or remove (include a "-" sign) from the teacher score
a brief description as to the rationale for why those points have been adjusted
Super-admin users can view a log of all the points a teacher has earned in the "Modules > Teachers" page of the super-admin portal by clicking on the "stacked horizontal bar" icon in the actions column of the teacher table.
Super-admin users can edit a teachers credibility weighting in the "Modules > Teachers" page of the super-admin portal by clicking on the "pen/paper" icon in the actions column of the teacher table and locating the "Credibility Weighting" field.
Super-admin users can view a log of how a teachers credibility weighting has changed over time in the "Modules > Teachers" page of the super-admin portal by clicking on the "circle-shaped arrow" icon in the actions column of the teacher table.
Super-admin users can locate, view and delete teacher reviews in the "Modules > Reviews" page of the super-admin portal. The super-admin user can search for the relevant reviews in the table listing all reviews, and use the icons in the "Actions" column to view and delete these reviews as needed.
Super-admins can manage teacher school suggestions in the "Modules > Schools" section of the super-admin portal. This page logs instances where a teacher has attempted to register a school that does not form part of the schools list in the system database.
Note: teacher school suggestions will only appear when the challenge is configured to allow for participation of schools not listed in the system database. For more information on how to deal with school suggestions from teachers, visit the "Dealing With Teacher School Suggestions" confluence page.
It is important to note that the system has multiple levels of permissions that can be assigned to teacher users, which govern what actions those teachers can take in the teacher portal. Teachers with administrator permissions (known as admin teachers) can perform additional actions in the teacher portal.
For a full breakdown of what 'admin teachers' can do in the system over those teachers who do not have administrator permissions, refer to the Admin vs Non-Admin Teachers article on the Wavumbuzi knowledge base.
There are three ways that a teacher can be granted administrator permissions in the system:
he/she is the first to register on behalf of his/her affiliated school (automatically assigned permissions)
For more information, visit the "Access & Navigation" section of the "Teacher Portal" page of this playbook.
he/she is granted administrative permissions by an 'admin teacher' from his/her school
For instructions on how 'admin teachers' can grant administrative permissions, refer to the Configuring Teacher Admin Privileges tutorial on the Wavumbuzi knowledge base.
he/she is granted administrative permissions by the system administrator/super-admin
Super-admin users grant and revoke administrative rights in the "Modules > Teachers" page of the super-admin portal by clicking on the "wand" icon in the actions column of the teacher table.
In addition to administration permissions, teachers can also be granted moderations permissions. Teachers with moderator permissions (known as moderators) can assign final scores to challenges, whereas marking completed by teachers without moderations permissions will be treated as a peer review (contribute toward the final score of a challenge based on the peer review algorithm). Teachers with moderator permissions can also override the scores of challenges assigned by the peer review algorithm. @Peace/Ruti to add other permissions not listed here.
Only the most trusted teachers are granted moderation permissions. What is more common is the creation of teacher accounts for ambassadors, which are assigned moderation permissions to empower them to assist the QA team with regular moderations rhythms. For more information on moderation practices, visit the "Quality Assurance & Data Integrity" page in this playbook.
Super-admin users grant and revoke moderation rights in the "Modules > Teachers" page of the super-admin portal by clicking on the "hammer/gavel" icon in the actions column of the teacher table.
