Videography and photography are important aspects that assist us in our marketing and communication activations.
From a photography perspective, having high-quality content showcasing things like school visits with ambassadors/Wavumbuzi team, prize-winner handovers, students in classrooms participating in Wavumbuzi and events & training sessions really help our audience engage with us as they are physically seeing what it is that we are doing. For example, we can create a blog post announcing winners, but showing pictures of those winners receiving prizes is 10 times better - like they say, "a picture tells a thousand words."
For this same reasoning, we use videography, except, videography is more engaging than any text or image could be. In recent years, video has become increasingly more popular, particularly on social media channels. We encourage the use of professional, high-quality videography to be used for Wavumbuzi as a means to advertise the Challenge, but also showcase what we are doing.
The video concept is brainstormed and discussed between the Marketing Manager (MM), Project Manager (PM), Country Director (CD) and Junior Marketing officer (JMO).
Once they have confirmed what videos it is that they would like, a brief then needs to be created and a videographer needs to be booked/contacted.
The video brief is to be created by the JMO, reviewed by the MM, and finalized by the JMO - then sent to the videographer/photographer.
The videographer should be sourced by the PM.
Briefs for the production of video assets is usually slightly different to that of a brief for graphic design assets. The video production brief typically incorporates two briefing resources:
First, the concept brief is provided to outline the intention, look and feel, and to provide references.
Find an example of a concept brief here.
Second is the video script/narrative, which outlines the message that the video should convey in a narrative form. This also offers a framework for providing feedback on draft versions of the final video asset.
Wavumbuzi videos are stored and hosted in Vimeo and Google Drive.
The Vimeo package that we are currently using is a free version, and is currently full. An upgrade will be required to host additional videos
