Beginning in the second instance of Wavumbuzi Kenya, with many operational and post-challenge reporting norms now in place, it naturally became a desire to shorten the time-frame between measurement and inspection of data. The next step was to find a solution to live analytics which in-country teams could use to make decisions and sharpen tactics on-the-go. Here was born the era of Wavumbuzi Dashboards.
Among several comparable tools, Google Data Studio became the dashboard tool of choice due to it's user friendliness and ease of integration with the Google Suite.
Over the period leading up to the time of writing this (November 2021) the technical set up and operational use of dashboards evolved significantly, to the point that weekly Team meetings for Wavumbuzi Rwanda 2021 began with a dashboard review and discussion.
Given the technical nature and dependence on visual material of the dashboarding exercise, a screen-recorded video approach has been taken to document:
Strategic approach Wavumbuzi dashboards
Technical introduction to the Data Studio tool-suite
Comprehensive review of existing dashboards and how they are set up and maintained
Discussions around opportunities for future improvements
How to custody the Team's usage of dashboards to nurture a culture of data-driven decision making
These documentation videos simultaneously served the purpose of handover sessions with the AGGP M&E Team, so each video takes the format of a Zoom call in which the documentation process unfolds with instructions and questions being addressed along the way.
