Halloween Activities

We had a spooktacular day celebrating Halloween on Tuesday. The students enjoyed participating in our Annual Halloween Parade as well as working through various Halloween Themed Centers in the morning. After lunch the students watched Despicable Me while snacking on treats brought from home. Thank you to the parents who were able to join us for the parade and for sending movie snacks for your child to enjoy!

Professor Wow

RBES students were treated to a special performance by Professor Wow! He uses circus skills such as juggling and other balancing acts to demonstrate Newton’s Three Laws of Motion. The students were amazed by his ability to make objects float to help them understand how airplanes fly. They were engaged and included in the show as volunteers for some of his acts.

Alberta’s Provincial and National Parks

This week in Social Studies, the students learned about National and Provincial parks. As a class we filled out a Venn Diagram with the similarities and differences between the two. Students then learned about whose responsibility it is to sustain the parks and what they can do to help. After learning what they can do to demonstrate care for the environment, students listened to a read aloud of the Lorax. Then students were asked to answer five short comprehension questions that had them connect their knowledge to the story.
