Elevator STEM Challenge

In science this week the students participated in a STEM activity challenge where they were asked to design and build a model of an elevator operated with a crank. The students used the steps of the Engineering Design Process (Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Test and Improve) for this challenge. Given a specific list of materials, they worked with partners to build their elevators and then presented them. We even had 1A join to see our elevators in action!

Conflict Resolution Role Play Stations

After reading Enemy Pie and The Day the Crayons Quit the students participated in a class discussion about conflict resolution strategies. The students were then given the opportunity to role play a variety of scenarios to practice conflict resolution. They were then asked to write about their conflict and include the strategies they used such as effective communication, compromising and reflecting on their actions.
