Hats on for Mental Health

On May 8th, the students and staff at RBES were encouraged to wear hats in support of Hats On for Mental Health. This day is to recognize and bring awareness to the importance of positive mental health and wellness. Within our own classrooms, we had conversations about ways we can be kind to ourselves and will continue to focus on wellness throughout the month of May.

Alberta Alphabet

This week, the students worked on a project to go with our Social Studies Unit - Alberta: Celebrations & Challenges. As a class, we read C is for Chinook - An Alberta Alphabet by Dawn Welykochy. Each student was then assigned a letter and had to find something Albertan that matched that letter. They then used alliteration to construct a phrase using this letter and finished by creating an illustration to match. The students were able to use their Social booklets and Google to help guide their research and drawings. The completed projects have become our Social Studies bulletin board.

Devon Lions Club Readers

As part of our Education Week celebrations, representatives from the Devon Lions Club were invited to read to the students of RBES. The students really  enjoyed our guest reader (former RBES teacher, Mr. Beck) and were so excited to be presented with a new book for our classroom library. Thank you to the Devon Lions Club!

Congratulations to our April Reading Raffle Winner!
