Addition and Subtraction of Decimals
Addition and Subtraction of Decimals
In math we have been focusing on addition and subtraction within 10,000, including decimal numbers to the hundredth. The students began by reviewing addition and subtraction of whole numbers, with and without regrouping, using a variety of strategies. Then we moved on to addition and subtraction of decimals using visual models, as well as, determining the reasonableness of a sum or difference using estimation.
Alberta’s Pennant Project
Alberta’s Pennant Project
During Social Studies this week, the students used what they have learned about Alberta’s regions to work on a Pennant Report assignment. In this project, students continued to explore one specific region. They used the class list of brainstormed adjectives to describe the landforms, climate, vegetations, and wildlife specific to their region. After that was complete, they worked on creating detailed and colourful illustrations that represented their writing.

Fabulous Fours
Fabulous Fours
This week our grade four pre-service teachers started a club called “Fabulous Fours”. This club runs twice a week with the intention to build relationships and create stronger bonds with all of the grade four students. There is a different activity each week and the students were placed in their top two choices. This week’s group learned how to make friendship bracelets! Our pre-service teachers are very excited to continue connecting with the students throughout the next 6 weeks.
