SC Multilingual Education Kickoff

For Teachers who attended the SC Multilingual Education Kickoff and would like to receive professional development credit for it. You will need to request that via the portal. We cannot put that in for you since it was not something offered through the district. Here is a PDF of directions for requesting PD points for Out of District Professional Development.

Upcoming Professional Development

Professional Development/Portal

Here is a link to all ESOL Professional Development offered this school year. Please note you will need to preregister for all PD sessions in advance. During registration, you will be asked to determine if you would like to receive PD credits or Exchange day credit. You cannot receive Exchange day credit if the session is offered during scheduled work hours. For example, our Beginning of the Year meeting was during the work day; therefore, you are only allowed to receive PD credit. When the PD session is taking place, you will receive a portal code to put in to receive credit for attending. If you are not registered before the sessions begin, the portal will not offer you the opportunity to put in the portal code.

Please note, if you log into the portal prior to our session start to be ready to put the portal code in, it will time out and you will receive an error message. It takes a while before you will be able to log back into the portal. Please try to refrain from logging in too far in advance so this is not an issue.

Sending your questions through the Help Ticket helps us to answer questions more quickly, and alerts us when the same question is asked multiple times that we may need to give more guidance.  Please bookmark this link and use it as needed.

Reminders

Itinerate ESOL Teachers

If you are an ESOL teacher that travels between schools on the same day, you can receive mileage reimbursement.  These need to be submitted monthly to McKenna Mollet, ESOL Office Secretary.  The links below are to the current mileage spreadsheet and the Mileage Chart.  If you have any questions, please contact McKenna.

Lexia

Remember, September 7th is when students can start using Lexia. Please pull a Skills Progress Report to document baseline data for your students who are returning. This will help when you monitor progress in order to determine growth. More information can be found on the Lexia page along with recording and slides from the Summer Academy session on Lexia.

Updates for Home-Based ESOL teachers for Virtual MLs

Click Here for the MLs Not Administered the Identification Screener Fall 2021 Google Form.

This form is utilized to document attempts to have Parents bring in Virtual Students for Screening.  Please make sure to complete this form for any student that is not screened.

If you have a student that is registered for virtual or is transferring to virtual, please complete this Google Form.  This includes students you have screened or not screened.  This is our only way to be sure students do not fall through the cracks.  We want to be sure every ML is supported and taken care of.

ILAPS and Working with Enrich/FrontLine

We are aware that when you go to finalize the ILAPS, you receive an error message and it takes you to the previous ILAP to enter an End date.  This was something that was not in the changes published to us from the company.  We have reached out vigorously to them to determine how that can be fixed or how we need to proceed so we have the least amount of work on your end.  The more efficient the system is the better.  You can work in ILAPs and they will save, you are just unable to finalize at this time.

ILAP Accommodations

Please see the Enrich Page for Allowable MAP Accommodations and the Testing Dates 21-22.  These documents are very important as you complete the ILAP.

-Testing Dates 21-22 will tell you which district and state assessments each grade level takes.

-MAP Accommodations will tell you the allowable accommodations for MAP Testing

-Reminder: You will not include ELP Testing Accommodations on the ILAP.

SCDE Released Parent Notification Letter (PLN) in Additional Languages

The SCDE released copies of the Parent Notification Letter in Additional Languages.  This google folder contains all the translated PNL that are currently available.

PLEASE NOTE:  We are not sending out Parent Notification Letters (PNL) for students that were an M4 last year and are now 8FormerML.  You do not have to go through the PNL process for our 8FormerML.

Coding and PowerSchool

The upload in PowerSchool to correct the M1-M4 has been entered and you should see the differences in the English Proficiency codes in PowerSchool and GCSource reports over the next 2 days.  This same upload will correct the issues concerning students that were enrolled in Greenville County Schools but did not take the 2021 ACCESS.  These students will become an AW.  If you have students in this category, Kerry Culpepper will be sending you a list of students that will change to AW.  This will allow you to compare this list to the students you have screened and determine if more students need to be screened in order to make sure the correct English Proficiency Code is entered.

Power School runs the 15th-day report on September 7th.  Strive to get all AW and Blank English Proficiency codes updated before that September 7th data pull.
