December ESOL General Session

Thank you all for attending our PD on Tuesday, December 8th!  It was great to see all of your faces!  We would like to stress that the focus should always be on instructing our ELs and supporting families.  Now is the time to dig deep (if you have not already) and teach the curriculum.  At the Elementary level, students are using Lexia AND Rosetta Stone English.  At the Secondary level, students are fully in the curriculum and using Comprehension Coach to practice fluency and comprehension.  For all parent of ELs, make sure they know about the Family Connections aspect of Rosetta Stone.  Every parent of an EL that wants to use a license to learn English can do so!  Thank you for all your dedication and support!  Below are all the links to the resources from the session.

Secondary Zoom Recording (error in the conversion, so sorry! - watch the Elementary, read the PowerPoint and FAQ, and contact Tanya Franca if you have any questions)

Our Monthly ESOL PD Continues

Highlights

Rosetta Stone English (Elementary)

The Rosetta Stone company has made some updates that affect the use of the program on iPads.  There are technology updates that need to occur if the students are using the program on an iPad.  We would expect that most students if not all use the program on a Chromebook/laptop.  Please complete the following Google Form by December 14th so we can plan any support needed.

2021-2022 ESOL Intent Form

Recently the district sent a general intent form for all principals and supervisors to share with their schools and offices for certified staff.  The ESOL program works a little differently in that locations and allocations change according to student number and need.  We more information to help us plan for the upcoming school year.  Please complete the ESOL Intent Form below by January 5, 2021.  Please include all information that might help with program planning (including preferences of virtual vs. brick and mortar, location, part time vs. fulltime, etc.)  Thank you for all you do!

Assessment Accommodations

Report in Enrich

Unfortunately, Enrich is still working on this report.  We are hoping to hear word back soon.  Right now the report is only pulling the accommodations of dually served students from their IEP.  We will let you know asap when this is fixed.
