Week of September 6th

Do you have something to celebrate?  I hope we all do!  Please share with the team so we can celebrate together!  Teams that celebrate together, accelerate together!

Please complete the Google Form with celebrations!  This is ongoing throughout the year!  I will add them every Thursday in our Newsletter!

Previous Professional Development

We have worked through all your questions!  Over 11 pages worth!  Please see the link.  We are here to support you.  Please use the new 2021-2022 Help Ticket to submit more questions.

SC Multilingual Education Kickoff

For Teachers who attended the SC Multilingual Education Kickoff and would like to receive professional development credit for it. You will need to request that via the portal. We cannot put that in for you since it was not something offered through the district. Here is a PDF of directions for requesting PD points for Out of District Professional Development.

SC Multilingual Education Kickoff Resources

This year's virtual conference organized and sponsored by the SC State Department of Education Multilingual Team was rich with information and resources.  They are all still available.  The recordings, powerpoints, and various resources can be found on the SC Multilingual Education Kickoff website.

Upcoming Professional Development

The SC ESOL Teacher Network is holding a New Teacher Forum

ESOL Professional Development/Portal

Here is a link to all ESOL Professional Development offered this school year. Please note you will need to preregister for all PD sessions in advance.  Our First Face to Face quarterly meeting is on September 16th!  Make sure you register in the portal so we can plan ahead for social distancing needs.

Click Here for the 21-22 Help Ticket.

Sending your questions through the Help Ticket helps us to answer questions more quickly, and alerts us when the same question is asked multiple times that we may need to give more guidance.  Please bookmark this link and use it as needed.

Reminders

ILAPs are FIXED!

We can now finalize ILAPS.  Our date is to complete all ILAPs September 15th -17th.   Reach out to Tanya Franca or Kerry Culpepper for assistance and concerns.

ILAP Resource

Jennifer Valenti, ESOL Teacher at Eastside High, created an excellent Google Slide presentation to help her content teachers access and sign the ILAPs.  She has been gracious to share it!  Thank you, Jen!  Please make a copy, edit and use as needed.

ILAP and Assessment Accommodations

Since you have been unable to finalize your ILAPs, make sure you are sharing with your School Testing Coordinator (STC) accommodations for tests that are upcoming this month and a half (MAP, CoGat(2nd grade), etc).  STCs cannot run the Accommodations reports until ILAPs are finalized.  Please refer to the District Testing Calendar and MAP Accommodation info that is posted in the Newsletter on the "Enrich" page.

ILAP Reminder - saves you time!

Remember:  You only create ILAPs for students "with accommodations."  So when you are creating the Parent Notification Letter (PNL), when you choose a service "with accommodations" the ILAP is automatically initiated.  If the student is a service "without accommodations" the Enrich program will not initiate an ILAP.  You DO NOT have to create one!
