Highlights

Lexia Core 5

Thank you for your interest in Lexia. We are hearing that students have been taking the auto placement and starting in the program. Chris has been receiving emails and working to address those concerns. As of Thursday, kindergarteners have still not been uploaded. This was to be done by district ETS. We are checking into the delay. Also, we are looking into the few teachers who are having issues with their accounts as well as how long it takes for students to be imported over from PowerSchool into Lexia. As soon as those issues are resolved, I will send you an email.

There will be no Zoom Help Session for Lexia on the following Fridays - October 16th and October 23rd. Regularly scheduled Lexia Help Sessions will resume Friday, October 30th and will be held every Friday from 1-1:45 pm.

Please consider attending the Lexia PD training refresher on Tuesday, October 20th at 3 pm.

Secondary - Nat Geo Curriculum

Please complete the following Nat Geo survey.  The purpose of this form is to collect information regarding the type(s) of Nat Geo Curriculum you are currently teaching.  This information will be used to help teachers appropriately collaborate when writing future lesson plans and utilizing the Nat Geo Curriculum.

Secondary- Rosetta Stone Update

Use the newly updated upload spreadsheet

-The student username  = first part of the student's district email

-E-mail = teacher's email

-Note = teacher's  name

Rosetta Stone is now requiring students to update their profile if an email address is not connected with their account.  If the student receives a screen to update their profile, they need to complete the e-mail field with the teacher’s email address and click “Update”

Reminders and Clarifications

Do you have something to celebrate?  I hope we all do!  Please share with the team so we can celebrate together!  Teams that celebrate together, accelerate together!

Pleas complete the Google Form with celebrations!  This is ongoing throughout the year!  I will add them every Thursday in our Newsletter!

All English Proficiency Codes MUST Be Entered!

We cannot have any blanks in the Power School field for English Proficiency.  The students' language proficiency code must be correct and entered.  Make sure you share the proficiency codes with your Power School clerks for all BLANKS.  If you already shared with your Power School Clerks, check with them to be sure they were all entered.  Bring them "banana bread" (favorite treat) to support them and keep them happy ;) Remember the proficiency fields determine FUNDING and ESOL FTEs (number of teachers).  We had over 653 blanks in my pull October 15th!!!! Remind your Clerks to enter a 9 for students that have ALL English on the Home Language Survey (HLS). The drop dead date for funding is the 45th day.  That is OCTOBER 27th!  NOTE:  In your English Proficiency field you should NOT have ANY of the following codes:  CM, W, 6P, 7P, or BLANKS

Accessing ILAPs for Content Teachers and ICs

Many of our content teachers do not realize they have access to Enrich or have not been trained to use it.  The following one-pager was created for them!  It will be shared next week with principals and ICs.
