Week of November 9th

Do you have something to celebrate?  I hope we all do!  Please share with the team so we can celebrate together!  Teams that celebrate together, accelerate together!

Please complete the Google Form with celebrations!  This is ongoing throughout the year!  I will add them every Thursday in our Newsletter!

Remember to check out our Celebrations Page for updated shout outs and congratulations!

Previous Professional Development

Thank you to all those that could attend our November General Session on November 10th.  We greatly appreciate your participation! We had lots of questions in the Chat, so it took us a little longer to complete our FAQ page! (8 pages - we hope it is comprehensive and detailed). Please see all the resources below for those who could not attend and/or references and resources!  Our next General Session is December 8th!

Upcoming Professional Development

Reminder:  ESOL Professional Development Sessions

Our monthly ESOL PDs have been divided so that everyone can leave school buildings in time for COVID 19 cleaning processes and procedures.  Our ESOL General Session is the second Tuesday of each month.  Our ESOL Instructional Coaches provide PD on the third Tuesday of each month.  For the Month of November, our General Session is November 10th and the IC sessions are November 17th. Looking forward to "seeing" all of you soon on Zoom!

November ESOL PD - Registration links

Please make sure you register using the correct link for the session you plan to attend. This helps with the sign-in code during the session. For example, if you register for Secondary Newcomer Curriculum (Inside the USA), but attend Secondary Curriculum (Fundamentals 1 & 2 Levels A-C) then the sign-in code provided will not work for you. You then have to manually be added to the portal under the correct session and then awarded credit.

Also, please select how you want to receive points (as Recertification Credit or Exchange Day) at the time of registration. After the PD, you have 5 days to go back and change how you receive your points should you change your mind.

IMPORTANT:  We were able to confirm with the company to hold our Rosetta Stone English Training, November 17th!!! The Elementary trainings have been postponed to next month and the Rosetta Stone English session is for all Elementary ESOL Teachers.  The links are updated on the document  below.

ESOL Office Hours

Tanya Franca will still be holding ESOL Office Hours 8:00-9:00 am every Friday.  With schools returning to 5 days a weeks, Kerry Culpepper and the ICs will no longer hold Office Hours on Fridays.  Please contact them directly to schedule support time.

We are currently using the EL student numbers to plan for ESOL Teacher allocations and FTEs for the remainder of the year and the 2020-2021 school year!  We need these 363 AWs with Proficiency Codes to increase our allocations and give an accurate projection of need for each school.  Please get the English Proficiency Codes entered!!!!!
