Course Length: Full Year

This is an academic and practical based course where we will investigate and address current issues and problems that need to be solved through the testing of ideas, modelling and prototyping.
Students will have the opportunity to develop individual solutions, working alongside chosen clients and a range of stakeholders.
Using the design process they will successfully manufacture a product that will address the requirements of the brief and specifications, at the same time recording all the technological evidence and processes they have followed.
COURSE COSTS
There is a course contribution for this course of approximately $140. This will cover the cost of course material, and will be confirmed in 2026.

The following standards will be offered throughout this course:
Achievement Standard 91610 v3 Generic Technology 3.3 - Develop a conceptual design considering fitness for purpose in the broadest sense
Internal Assessment, worth 6 credits
Achievement Standard 91620 v4 Construction and Mechanical Technologies 3.20 - Implement complex procedures to integrate parts using resistant materials to make a specified product
Internal Assessment, worth 6 credits
Achievement Standard 91612 v3 Generic Technology 3.5 - Demonstrate understanding of how technological modelling supports technological development and implementation
External Assessment, worth 4 credits
Total credits available for this course: 16 NCEA Level 3 credits
