This is an option subject that runs for a full year.
Teacher in Charge: Seán Finan (FNN)
In this course, students will gain experience in planning and managing materials and tools.
Students will work on carpentry and joinery projects and will complete theory work booklets to show subject knowledge.
Construction focuses on developing practical skills and uses Unit Standards developed and moderated by the Building Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO).
COURSE COSTS
There is a course contribution for this course of approximately $95. This will cover the cost of course material, and will be confirmed in 2026.

Unit Standard 24352 v3 - Demonstrate and apply knowledge of safe working practices and use PPE during the constructions of a BCATS project
Internal Assessment, worth 2 credits
Unit Standard 24355 v3 - Demonstrate knowledge of construction and manufacturing materials used in BCATS projects
Internal Assessment, worth 4 credits
Unit Standard 24356 v3 - Apply elementary procedures and processes for a BCATS project
Internal Assessment, worth 8 credits
Unit Standard 24919 v3 - Use hardware and fastenings for a BCATS project
Internal Assessment, worth 2 credits
Unit Standard 24920 v3 - Use joints for a BCATS project
Internal Assessment, worth 3 credits
