In this course, students will continue to develop knowledge and skills in the practical care and education of young children, in a New Zealand Early Childhood Education setting.
Students will be required to participate in a placement at an ECE service for 2 days a week during Term 3 or 4 in order to complete the practical components of three of the assessment tasks.

Unit Standard 10013 v7 - Explain the relevance of the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum Te Whariki as a framework for programme development

Unit Standard 10026 v7 - Demonstrate knowledge of mokopuna/children's holistic development and learning in an early childhood setting
Internal Assessment, worth 6 credits
Unit Standard 26707 v5 - Describe the value of play and create resources for children's learning and development in an early childhood setting
Internal Assessment, worth 4 credits
Unit Standard 26708 v5 - Describe respectful, reciprocal and responsive relationships with mokopuna/children in an early childhood setting

Unit Standard 29866 v2 - Demonstrate knowledge of, apply and reflect on age-related nutrition needs for a child in an early childhood setting

Unit Standard 29867 v2 - Demonstrate knowledge of diverse whānau/families and use a range of effective communication strategies in an ECE service
