This course will enable students to work towards completing the 5 credit Literacy component of the New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learning.
Students will also learn reading, writing, and speaking skills to prepare for the 10 credit NCEA Literacy Common Assessment Activity (CAA).

Unit Standard 29307 v3 - Use functional literacy skills in a range of day-to-day contexts
Internal Assessment, worth 5 Supported Learning credits
Unit Standard 32403 v2 - Demonstrate understanding of ideas and information in written texts
External Assessment, worth 5 credits
Unit Standard 32405 v3 - Write texts to communicate ideas and information
External Assessment, worth 5 credits
Total credits available for this course: 15 NCEA Level 1 credits (including 5 credits towards the New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners)
