Scheduling for the 2023/2024 school year will begin soon
INDEPENDENT STUDY
The independent study option allows typically juniors and seniors with a special interest in a subject, to pursue that area of interest in more detail or greater depth than the existing curriculum provides. Students who wish to undertake an independent study project must:
Develop a proposal which includes clearly stated goals, the learning targets designed to achieve these goals, and a schedule detailing the timeline of the learning.
Speak to the student’s counselor about the need for an independent study.
Obtain parent, teacher, counselor, and administrator approval of the independent study.
Solicit the help of a teacher advisor to supervise the study.
Show progress in the course on a daily basis.
Pursue the project with a minimum of direction.
Complete the project and report its results as agreed upon in the project proposal.
Successful completion of an independent study will result in the grade of “P” (Pass). Projects that are not completed will not receive a grade, or credit.
COURSE RETAKE POLICY
Students may retake certain courses for credit. A grade for each attempt will be recorded on the student’s transcript. A student who fails a course may be required to retake the course in order to progress in the sequence of courses for a content area. Failing attempts, as well as passing attempts, will be recorded on the student’s transcript. The following courses may be retaken for additional credit:
