ADVANCED ART PORTFOLIO

Advanced Art Portfolio is designed for students who are motivated to pursue their own art interests. During each term, students will have designated drawing times for drawing skill development, service projects which benefit the art program and school, and the opportunity to follow their own studi interests.
CERAMICS

Ceramics is a studio art class for students who wish to explore the art of ceramics. Emphasis will be placed on the design elements of line, shape, texture, form, and color. Focus will be on hand-building techniques, including: pinch; coil; and slabs. Functional and sculptural applications will be explored. Glazing techniques will also be introduced. The history of ceramic arts will be incorporated in the studio experience.

Painting is designed to explore the world of painting in greater depth. Students will learn about realistic, expressive, and abstract approaches to traditional and experimental color theory through a variety of media, which will include watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Students will demonstrate an increasing art vocabulary through reflective and critical analysis of their own work and the work of others.
PHOTOGRAPHY / GRAPHIC DESIGN

Photography / Graphic Design is an introduction to black and white photography and computer graphics. Students will learn to process film and print photographs with technical proficiency, as well as develop a sense of photographic creativity. Students will use the digital camera and learn to manipulate a photograph taken with the device.
