The Concert Band is one of two curricular bands available to all students in the high school. Members will perform a variety of musical styles at varying levels at all required performances. Correct instrument tone, technique, sight reading ability, music theory, concert etiquette, and more will be covered throughout the course. Concert Band will meet during trimesters two and three. Students are expected to participate in all scheduled events and festivals.
GUITAR 1 / 2

Guitar I will help students learn how to apply knowledge of reading and interpreting basic notes and rhythms to techniques required to play guitar. Students will learn basic melodies and chords, as well as explore a variety of applications for playing guitar outside of the classroom. Students who extend into Guitar II must pass Guitar I, or demonstrate course-equivalent knowledge. It is designed for students who have fluent technique and skill reading and laying guitar music and are interested in continuing to build on their understanding. They will be playing to advanced melodies and chord progressions, as well as perform in an ensemble setting.
MARCHING BAND

The Fort Madison Marching Bloodhounds is a band comprised of 9-12th graders of all levels of experience. The band performs at all home varsity football games, local parades, and festivals throughout the Tri-State area. Students in Marching Band are expected to participate in all scheduled events and festivals.
MUSIC FOUNDATIONS

Music Foundations is a course that will help students learn the starting components of music. The course is perfect for a students who knows little about music and would like to understand how to read music, and possibly create music. Music Foundations will help students learn the concepts necessary for success in Music Theory and Guitar I, as well as various performance ensembles.
