Students frequently request advanced courses or in-depth study in some subject areas. The independent study program is designed for these students. The subject, topic, or project is determined in cooperation with a sponsoring teacher. Credit may be earned. The guidance office has more information. Courses must be approved by the Independent Study Committee. Independent Study courses are courses that are above and beyond courses offered in our catalog. Students are required to give a presentation at the end of their independent study. The presentation format will be determined by the student and the cooperating teacher.

PREREQUISITES: 3.0 GPA AND CONSISTENT ADHERENCE TO STATE AND FEDERAL ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS

Students may volunteer for assignments in the counseling department, activities department, in the informational technology department, or in the library / media center. The intent of the placement is for the student to gain valuable job experience. Students are supervised by staff of the respective departments. Final decisions about student volunteer assignments shall be made by building administration.
