A focus on communication in Japanese will enable you to be able to have conversations with your friends and write emails, letters etc, all in Japanese.  Topics include talking about your family, friends, school, hobbies, travel and work.  We also learn about Japanese culture from ancient festivals to modern anime and manga, not to mention Japanese food!  There are lots of opportunities to chat in Japanese both to each other and to friends in Japan.
