Course description:

This is a 2 Unit, 2 Year ATAR subject.

This is a content rich course that allows students to gain an understanding of health and the health systems in Australia and how the body works in relation to physical activity and improving sporting performance. (This is NOT a practical subject)

It aims to both allow students to make positive health choices and to also become advocates for better health for all.

The Preliminary course examines a range of areas that underpin health and physical activity. This includes how people think about health and physical activity, the management of personal health and the basis for how the body moves.

In the HSC course students focus on major health issues related to Australia’s health status. They also look at factors that affect physical performance. They undertake studies from a range of choices including investigating the health of young people or of groups experiencing health inequities.
