Course description:
The Year 9 & 10 Drama course is an opportunity for students to use their imagination and turn it into action within our Drama space. It includes improvisational games and developing group and Individual performances; exploring mime and physical effort actions; approaches to using voice effectively and interpreting scripts for workshops and performances. Students will learn about the various Elements of Drama and learn how to utilise them in performance. They will also keep a logbook as they develop their performance. Much of the course is practical and students have lots of fun.

Explore ways of changing your physicality and voice to create different characters
Develop collaborative skills by working closely with other students
Learn how to write written responses explaining how playwrights convey meaning from stage to audience
Develop skill in various ways to approaching a script and turning it into a coherent performance
Assess your own engagement and development by keeping your progress in logbooks
Gain confidence by performing in front of an audience

Career opportunities:
This course will help students if they wish to become an actor, either on stage, or on the screen. It will also allow students to explore their talent in other areas related to theatre, like direction and script writing.
Possible learning experiences/excursions:
Class workshops, interpreting scripts being studied
If space allows, students can join senior students to see ‘On-Stage’ at the Seymour Centre, to see the best of the Group and Individual performances from N.S.W. schools in the prior year
Excursions to any plays or workshops relevant to the plays being studied
