Course description:

This course is clearly designed for students that have both a strong aptitude and love of the challenges that mathematics can offer. Mathematics Extension 2 provides opportunities at progressively higher levels for students to acquire knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to concepts within areas of mathematics that have applications in an increasing number of contexts. The study of Extension 2 opens many opportunities for tertiary study within a range of disciplines.

Skills you will master:

Students have the opportunity to develop strong mathematical manipulation skills and a deep understanding of the fundamental ideas of algebra and calculus, as well as an appreciation of mathematics as an activity with its own intrinsic value involving invention, intuition and exploration. Imagine solving complex geometry problems with the simplicity of vectors. Imagine exploring a new number system, which has great importance in the field of mathematical physics. In fact, much of real-world technology and applications are based on complex (number) analysis.

All these skills are directly transferrable to complex computations within the finance, technology and science fields.
