This course is specifically designed to give students a ‘hands on’ approach to creating a piece of theatre. Students will be involved in the entire process of producing a full-length drama production for stage. Auditions will be held for actors and, where possible, students will be allocated specialised duties of their choice, such as sound engineering; lighting control; props and costume design and various administration roles such as backstage organisation. (These students might also be required to play a small role in the play as well.) All rehearsals will be held in class time and the play will be performed for several audiences later in the year. 

• Explore ways of changing your physicality and voice to create different characters  

• Develop collaborative skills by working closely with other students  

• Experience the process of developing a script from casting to performance 

• Develop skill in various ways to approaching a script and turning it into a coherent performance  

• Specialise in at least one aspect of theatrical production 

• Gain confidence by performing in front of an audience 

Script provided. Props/costumes etcetera will be paid for from course fees. 

This course will help you if you wish to become an actor and/or if you wish to work in the theatre. It can also help you explore your talent as a set, props, SFX or lighting designer. 

If the opportunity arises the class will attend a musical theatre performance.
