Principal's Message

I hope that you have enjoyed your time at Colo High School learning and discovering new things since enrolling in Year 7. The curriculum in the junior years provides a wide base of subjects for you to experience in Years 7 and 8, with progressive narrowing of course selections in Year 9 and 10. Greater specialisation occurs in the senior years for the Preliminary and HSC courses. Choice, breadth and depth are the key elements in the junior years of schooling. 

Some aspects of the school curriculum are determined by NESA (NSW Educational Standards Authority) and the Department of Education as such, are mandatory. In Years 7 and 8, all students follow the same course of study. Year 9 and 10 students follow some compulsory courses and elect to study others.  

You now need to make some important decisions concerning your elective choice. You will need to elect two 200–hour 2 year courses and one 100–hour 1 year course.

Once students have selected courses, numbers for each course will be collated. In some cases students may receive their second choice or be asked to reselect because small numbers of students have selected the course making the class unviable.
