Term 4

Week 8

1 December 2023

Kia ora EBIS Whanau

As the end of the year rapidly approaches it has come to the time when we are acknowledging all the work that students and staff have put into the year. For the students, the Year 8’s in particular, it is a chance for all to recognise their achievements.

A group of students visited the Taputeranga Marine Reserve intending to have a snorkelling adventure. Unfortunately the weather caused the in water activities to be cancelled but the students still enjoyed themselves, exploring the rock pools and feeding Boris the Octopus.

The Year 8 Graduation Dinner was held on November 30th at Dragon restaurant. This was a  lively and enjoyable event, filled with good food, and celebration of the achievements of these students over the past 2 years. Towards the end of the event several students performed the school haka to show their appreciation of the staff and to wish their fellow students well as they all move onto their secondary education journey.

EOTC activities start next week and include a CBD scavenger hunt, and an Arts experience day. Teams will be attending these activities on a rotating basis with school based days

We would like to thank all parents and caregivers who have offered their time to support the upcoming EOTC activities. We would not be able to offer many of these without your help, especially at this busy time of the year.

On the 14th December EBIS will be holding the annual prizegiving from 9-11am in the EBIS school hall. During the ceremony, students will be presented with awards and certificates in various categories, including academic excellence, sports achievements, leadership qualities, community service, and more. We believe that it is important to acknowledge and celebrate the diverse talents and accomplishments of our students. Families of students who will be receiving awards and certificates will be notified during Week 9.

The following Day, 15th December, after giving classes a chance to do any final clean ups and farewells, there will be a final assembly. During this assembly teachers will acknowledge students that have shown a consistent attitude and effort during the year and to say farewell to both the students and the staff that are leaving. At the completion of this assembly at 12:30pm students will be released for the end of the school year.

Please remember to visit the school website, Facebook page or Instagram page for any last minute information before the end of the school year.

Community Message

" We are aware there has been a lot of talk of late within the community regarding students from local schools including Evans Bay Intermediate School. These conversations, although originating outside of school, have the ability to cause harm at school as well. Please support us in not perpetuating talk, or shutting down talk that may have a negative impact on members of our school and wider community as we all have a responsibility to look after one another."
