Create quiz questions with NotebookLM or Gemini

Writing dozens (or even hundreds) of quiz questions in Brightspace is time-consuming. AI can help.

1. Use Gemini or NotebookLM to help develop questions.
   Add your resources (slides, readings, videos, sites) to the AI, either via Google Drive, upload, or URL.

2. Ask the AI to generate questions.
   "Create XX multiple-choice questions that measure the students' knowledge of this unit. At least 2 of the distractors must be plausible. Do not number the questions or the answers. Place the question on one line followed by each choice on a separate line. Place an asterisk in front of the correct choice. Place an empty line between the last choice and the next question. This formatting must appear when pasted into a Google Doc. Provide it in a plain text file, also." The Quiz Question Converter (below) has a file linked in the top-right corner with formatting examples of many question types.

3. Paste the resulting questions into the Quiz Question Converter (download and install).
   Open the text file. Paste the questions from the AI into the Converter (ctrl + shift + v can be used to paste without formatting). Click the Convert button.

4. Upload the file into the Question Library.
   Create a Section (folder) in the Question Library for your questions (e.g., Ch04 social learning). Click on that section. Select Import > Upload a file. Locate and select the file in Downloads. Click Review in the pop-up. Click Import All (or Cancel). Once the questions are uploaded, you can add the whole section or individual questions to a quiz. (Creating a Question Pool that uses 1/3 of all of the questions in a section is ideal.)
